According to beat writer Frank Isola, the Knicks will announce Mike Woodson's new contract to remain head coach no later than Thursday.
Isola writes that the team never conducted an outside search nor did New York ever reach out to Phil Jackson. The new contract will be for either three or four years, and it will be interesting to see how much money the team is prepared to commit to Woodson after being burned by big coaching deals in the past.

The Knicks are expected to announce Mike Woodson's new contract with the team sometime "this week," a source tells the New York Post.
This was essentially a formality after the New York Daily News had previously reported the two sides were working on a new deal. James Dolan had reportedly asked Woodson to switch agencies to CAA (a firm with power inside the organization), and now the final details of Woodson's new deal are being hammered out. CAA represents Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, team personnel director Mark Warkentien and assistant GM Allan Houston. To nobody's surprise, the candidate Melo endorsed as head coach will remain with the team.

Knicks owner James Dolan has reportedly requested that Mike Woodson hire a new agent prior to re-signing as the coach of the Knicks.
Dolan and Woodson's agent, Joe Glass, have a history, as Glass was Larry Brown's agent when Dolan attempted to void Brown's five-year, $50 million contract in 2006. It sounds like Dolan likes Woodson and wants him to coach the Knicks again next season, and Woodson will likely find new representation. If the Knicks sign Woody, it would likely be a three-year deal, and Carmelo Anthony's offensive game should thrive if it happens.

Carmelo Anthony had 35 points, eight rebounds and two 3-pointers on 15-of-31 shooting Wednesday, but the Knicks fell to the Heat in Game 5, knocking them out of the playoffs.
Melo's teams are now 17-37 in playoff games, although he's also never played with a great point guard. Now we'll have to wait and see if Mike Woodson is coaching the Knicks again next season, but early indications are that he's got a solid chance of doing so.

Jeremy Lin's agent, Roger Montgomery, said "we don't have any assurances" when asked about his client's free agency.
Lin, a restricted free agent, is expected to return to the Knicks. Montgomery is simply posturing here in an attempt to drive up Lin's value on the open market and get an interested team to offer a sizable offer sheet. The Raptors, along with a handful of other teams, will have interest in Lin, but the Knicks are expected to retain him. Lin was a marketing dream and played solid basketball when healthy for New York.

Free agent Baron Davis underwent right knee surgery Thursday.
Davis, 33, is now facing 12 months of rehab after tearing his ACL, MCL and patella tendon. He's also dealt with back woes, weight problems and declining effectiveness over the last few seasons. Davis' NBA career is in jeopardy.
