Retired LB Willie McGinest is now saying he is not contemplating a comeback.
Apparently his serious-sounding comments were meant to be taken in jest. "Even though I looked as good as I did (in Lions' player-organized workouts), this No. 55 has been retired for three years and plans to stay retired," he said in a Saturday statement. And so ends McGinest's one-day "comeback."

Retired LB Willie McGinest is looking to make a comeback.
Now 39 years old, McGinest last played in the NFL in 2008. "We're going to see if I get offered a contract now," McGinest said on Friday after taking part in Lions' player-organized workouts. "After I send this tape out to a few teams, we're going to see." The odds are stacked against McGinest reviving his career, in Detroit or elsewhere.

Free agent LB Willie McGinest has not turned in his retirement papers yet and is open to the possibility of playing in 2010.
McGinest, 38, sat out the entire 2009 season. He only wants to come back to the right situation and has played for new Chiefs defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel for most of his career. We'd bet against him having a positive impact on any team at this stage of his career.

Free agent Willie McGinest reiterated to the Associated Press that he wants to continue his playing career.
However, the 37-year-old guarded that statement by saying, "only if the situation is right," and "if not, I'm probably retired." If McGinest still thinks he can be picky, he probably isn't going to play another down in the NFL.

Browns WR David Nelson (knee surgery) isn't participating in this week's voluntary workouts.
Nelson is still rehabbing his torn ACL, but should be ready for June's mandatory minicamp. At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Nelson joins Greg Little and Josh Gordon to form one of the biggest receiver trios in the league. With new coach Rob Chudzinski's history of heavily utilizing the tight end, however, it's a poor bet Nelson will approach his 2011 stat line of 61/658/5 as the fourth option in the offense.
