Speaking Tuesday, Ben Roethlisberger said the Steelers have revamped their playbook, but refused to provide specifics.
"There's been some changes this offseason in some of the offensive philosophies, playbook and some things that I think are good," he said. "It's some compromise from all the different position coaches, the running back coaches, the line, and quarterback coaches. I think we've taken a little bit of everything and made it a lot better." The Steelers fell from 12th to 21st in total offense last season, and lost lid-lifting WR Mike Wallace in free agency. With the addition of potential bell-cow back Le'Veon Bell, the Steelers could be adopting a more methodical philosophy designed to extend Roethlisberger's career.

Ben Roethlisberger anticipates Mike Wallace's departure having a noticeable and negative effect on the Steelers' offense.
Wallace is often criticized as a one-trick-pony deep threat, but the fact that he tilted coverage and commanded double teams made Wallace a valuable piece in Pittsburgh's offense. "On the field, he was something special," Big Ben explained. "People don’t realize how important it is to have a guy with his ability on the football field. ... Safeties have to respect Mike’s speed. Cornerbacks and the defense are scheming to stop Mike Wallace going deep. It opens up other receivers, so to lose a guy like that is really going to be tough for all of us."

Ben Roethlisberger said his health feels "great" right now.
Through the first eight games of last year, Roethlisberger averaged 275.4 yards per game while throwing 16 touchdowns against four interceptions. Then his season was torpedoed by a scary shoulder/rib injury. He returned in Week 14, but lacked arm strength and was a shell of himself. Now fully healthy, he's already working out and optimistic. "I feel like I'm in my prime and ready to play great football," the 31-year-old Big Ben said.

Ben Roethlisberger insists there weren't any serious issues with the Steelers' chemistry last season.
"For anybody to say there are locker room issues or leadership issues are completely off base," Roethlisberger said. "I believe that's the frustration of last year, I honestly do. ... There are no issues with LaMarr (Woodley). There are no issues on our team." Roethlisberger is just trying to be a leader in shooting down some fairly public issues, but that's more than he would have done in the past. Age will be a bigger concern than chemistry for the Steelers in 2013.

Heath Miller (torn ACL) remains without a timetable for a return, but believes "there’s a chance" he'll be ready for Week 1.
"I’m running now. I’m doing everything," Miller said. "I’m not at full speed, but I’ve been able to do everything that they’ve asked me to do. So, I’m pleased and encouraged. It’s been a long process. ... But I’m going to keep taking it one day at a time and get better every day." The Steelers didn't draft a tight end, so they're clearly counting on Miller contributing in 2013. He's too risky to count on as a low-end TE1 for fantasy purposes, however.
