Jake Delhomme said Monday he's very likely to retire.
Delhomme was out of the league this season until the Texans lost both Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart to injury. He ended up making just one appearance, mopping up in Week 17 for T.J. Yates. Delhomme turned 37 last week and may have a future in coaching.

Relieving T.J. Yates in the first quarter, Jake Delhomme closed out the Texans' Week 17 loss by completing 18-of-28 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown against the Titans.
Delhomme played all but one possession. He was mostly sharp, relying on check downs and high-percentage plays while hitting Bryant Johnson for one deep shot, good for a 40-yard gain. If T.J. Yates' left shoulder is indeed separated, Delhomme may have to start in the Wild Card round. The Texans' offense would remain run heavy, theoretically minimizing the quarterback's impact on games. Early-game deficits can change that of course, but based on Week 17, at least, Delhomme doesn't appear to be a significant downgrade from Yates.
Jan 1 - 4:15 PM
Jake Delhomme participated in Texans practice Wednesday.
Delhomme was able to report and get in a full session one day after being signed. According to coach Gary Kubiak, Delhomme "came a long way just from the first play of practice to the last play." Delhomme won't be under center against the Falcons, but anything beyond this week will depend on how T.J. Yates performs.

Texans agreed to terms with QB Jake Delhomme.
Coach Gary Kubiak made it clear Monday that he wanted a veteran QB who has "been in a few rodeos" as a fall-back plan to rookie T.J. Yates and newly signed Kellen Clemens. The 36-year-old Delhomme, who had been working on his own horse farm in Louisiana, was chosen over Jeff Garcia after Tuesday's workout. Coming off a 2:7 TD-to-INT ratio and 5.9 YPA with the Browns in 2010, Delhomme isn't an immediate threat to Yates. The Texans could turn to him as a steadier hand by late December, however, in preparation for the playoffs. Clemens is the No. 3 QB.

Coach Gary Kubiak insists Matt Schaub (Lisfranc surgery) could be partaking in OTAs if the Texans allowed him.
The Texans are exercising the utmost caution with Schaub, and getting promising second-year QB T.J. Yates extra reps. "Matt is fine," Kubiak said. "Matt, to be honest with you, could probably do individuals, could do 7-on-7, but we’re just being smart. When you haven’t passed a physical, you’re not going to step on the field." Schaub is expected to be fully cleared for training camp.

Andre Johnson (knee scope) has "no doubt" that he'll be ready for training camp.
"I feel like maybe in three, four more weeks, I’ll be probably ready to go," Johnson said. "It’s just a process. I’m not having any issues from the other injuries I had with my hamstrings and stuff like that." Johnson has missed 12 combined games over the past two seasons. He should still be one of the first 3-5 wide receivers drafted in fantasy football leagues this year.
