Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie says he doesn't regret the former Oakland regime's acquisition of Carson Palmer.
"We've got a quarterback we think can win the division and take us to the playoffs," McKenzie said. "Losing a one and a two doesn't bother me one bit." The "one and a two" McKenzie is referring to are the draft picks surrendered by owner Mark Davis and former coach Hue Jackson when they decided to acquire Palmer at all costs last season. McKenzie suggested in January Palmer will have to earn the starting job, but that heavy price should provide him with all the job security he needs in 2012.

According to Carson Palmer, new Raiders OC Greg Knapp's playbook features a lot of play-action and move-the-pocket plays.
"I think it's really going to fit the personnel we have," said an excited Palmer. "The style of play with the offensive line and the zone running scheme, and the speed we have in the backfield, it's built for making a read, making one cut, and getting vertical and putting pressure on the defense with our speed and our running backs just heading north." As long as the skill players stay healthy, the Raiders' offense has explosive potential in 2012.

Carson Palmer is "working hard" on his footwork this offseason.
New OC Greg Knapp's offense utilizes play-action and moving pockets, so the immobile Palmer is looking to iron out his footwork as best he can. "We have a lot of work to do," Palmer said. "We have a new offense ... new terminology." Under the new CBA, Palmer can't receive his new playbook until Monday.

The Raiders were the only team awarded a third-round selection as compensatory draft picks were distributed by the NFL on Monday.
The Raiders got picks in the third, fourth, and fifth rounds. So, yes, they will be drafting in 2012 after previously possessing no picks in round one through four. The rich got richer when Green Bay was awarded four compensatory choices, two in the fourth round and two in the seventh. The Vikings also received two fourth-round comp picks. The Ravens and Giants each got one. The full distribution of compensatory selections can be viewed at the link below.
