Darren Sproles corralled a whopping 15 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown and added three carries for three yards against the 49ers in the Divisional round of the playoffs.
The 15 receptions on 19 targets are the most in playoff history, breaking a record held by Kellen Winslow Sr. among others. The Niners' dominant special teams turned Sproles into a non-factor in the return game. Navorro Bowman's agility and sure tackling kept his run-after-catch numbers in check until a go-ahead 44-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Only John Stallworth (5), Randy Moss (4), and Jerry Rice (4) have more playoff scores of 44+ yards than Sproles' three. The best receiving back in the game, Sproles is locked in as an every-week fantasy starter for 2012.

Darren Sproles rushed 10 times for 51 yards and two touchdowns and added four receptions for 34 yards against the Lions in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
Sproles entered the postseason with just two rushing scores all season, but he vultured a 2-yard TD from Pierre Thomas and ran untouched up the gut for a 17-yard jaunt. Whenever the Saints needed a key play, Sean Payton could simply call Sproles' number in a mismatch against a defense concentrating on stopping Drew Brees down the field. Sproles has six touchdowns in his last six games heading into next Saturday's game with the 49ers.

Darren Sproles set the NFL record for combined yards in the Saints' Week 17 win over the Panthers.
Sproles put a bow on his magical first season in New Orleans, picking up 40 rushing yards, 29 receiving yards and 99 yards in returns in this one. His 2,669 total yards on the year beat the previous mark of 2,690, set by Derrick Mason with the Titans in 2000. Operating as the passing-down arm of the Saints' three-headed monster at tailback, Sproles finished the season with 86 catches for 710 yards and seven touchdowns. The 603 rushing yards and two more touchdowns were just gravy. He'll be a major part of the Saints' attack against the Lions in the first round of the playoffs.

Darren Sproles rushed for 67 yards on five carries and caught two passes for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' Week 16 win over Atlanta.
Sproles was touch-less until the :45 mark in the first quarter, before gaining seven yards on a sweep out of a shotgun formation. His second touch went for 13 on a screen, and Sproles drew a pass-interference flag in the red zone against Sean Weatherspoon later in the second quarter. Sproles' biggest gains from scrimmage came on a trap run (16 yards) and a sprint draw (36 yards) with Atlanta's defense playing soft, fearing the pass. The latter gain was the longest by a Saints back on a rushing attempt all season. On special teams, Sproles brought back a third-quarter kickoff 92 yards, but his most memorable play was catching the fourth-quarter TD that pushed Drew Brees past Dan Marino for the NFL's single-season passing yards mark. The Saints face Carolina in the regular season finale, though we suspect Sproles will be used sparingly, if at all.

Saints interim coach Joe Vitt conceded that Mark Ingram (toe, knee surgeries) is unlikely to be a full-go for the start of training camp.
Ingram has undergone three surgeries over the past three offseasons, two on his left knee. While Vitt is confident Ingram will be ready by Week 1, the durability concerns won't help Ingram's chances of experiencing a bigger workload. The 2011 first-round pick should be red-flagged in 2012 fantasy drafts.
