Patriots RG Dan Connolly is recovering from surgery on his right shoulder, but is expected to be ready for training camp.

The operation took place last week. Connolly, 30, started 16 of New England's 18 games last season, including the playoffs. Pro Football Focus graded him slightly negatively as both a run and pass blocker. At his best as a utility, swing-type offensive lineman, Connolly may face competition to start in 2013. TE	1	Rob Gronkowski Sidelined Profootballtalk.com reports the lingering infection has cleared from Rob Gronkowski's arm, and his new plate was installed during Monday's surgery. Gronkowski emerged from surgery Monday afternoon. The new plate will continue to hold together the fracture in his left forearm, which was surgically repaired four times because of complications due to the infection. Gronkowski is now expected to undergo back surgery in 3-4 weeks, the recovery timetable for which will last roughly ten weeks. He's still got a good chance to get in some late-training camp time, and be all systems go for Week 1 at Buffalo. May 20
	2	Aaron Hernandez Sidelined ESPN Boston reports that "word is" Aaron Hernandez (shoulder) can expect a four-month recovery period. Hernandez underwent a "minor scope" almost three weeks ago, and he is not expected to participate in OTAs or minicamp. It's possible he could even open training camp on the PUP list. There remains plenty of time for Hernandez to be ready for Week 1. The Patriots will likely bring him along slowly. Apr 21

Thanks to the injury woes of Rob Gronkowski (arm) and Aaron Hernandez (shoulder), Ballard's rehab has taken on a different context. If he can get on the field for the offseason program, he'll be the temporary No. 1 pass-catching tight end at practices.
