Seahawks QB Tarvaris Jackson did not attend this week's voluntary conditioning sessions.
Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and DE Chris Clemons were also absent. Seahawks OTAs begin next week, and Jackson is widely believed to be on the roster bubble following the selection of Wilson and signing of Matt Flynn. Competition-oriented coach Pete Carroll will surely take note whenever Jackson skips any "voluntary" affairs.

Tacoma News Tribune
SI.com's Peter King expects Tarvaris Jackson to be "either No. 3 or cut during camp" if rookie Russell Wilson plays well in preseason.
As King notes, Jackson got 14 starts last season to show Seahawks brass he's the quarterback of the future, and "he didn't do that." Now due a $4M salary and not even assured of being second on the depth chart, Jackson should be available for trade as we speak. The most likely outcome has Matt Flynn starting Week 1, Wilson nipping at Flynn's heels, and T-Jack hitting the FA market.

Despite the additions of Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson, coach Pete Carroll insists Tarvaris Jackson will get every chance to keep the Seahawks' starting quarterback job.
Seattle guaranteed Flynn $10 million and used a second-day pick on Wilson, but Jackson doesn't lack for support on the coaching staff. Appearing on ESPN's
NFL 32
Tuesday, Carroll predicted that Jackson is "really on the brink of becoming something special." There's a non-guaranteed $4M salary working against him.

Everett Herald
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll reemphasized that he anticipates a "head-to-head" camp battle between Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson.
Flynn is the obvious favorite, but the Seahawks will hang onto both signal callers until one leaps clearly ahead. Carroll also revealed that Seattle didn't have to do much courting to get Flynn to sign with them over Miami. "He went to see the Dolphins and after visiting them he called me the next morning early and said ‘Hey Coach I want to come to Seattle,'" Carroll recalled. "It was kind of like a recruit calling me. He wanted to come."

Seahawks WRs Sidney Rice (shoulder surgeries) and Kris Durham (shoulder surgery) ran routes during Thursday's OTA workout.
Both players, along with sixth-round S Winston Guy, wore red non-contact jerseys as a precaution. The optimistic Seahawks expect Rice to be the healthiest he's ever been by the time training camp rolls around. As far as we're concerned, the three concussions in a 12-month span are every bit as worrisome as Rice's twin shoulder surgeries.

Seahawks WR Kris Durham, placed on injured reserve this week, underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder.
So there's no truth to the rumor that Durham injured his shoulder when the Seahawks twisted his arm to go on I.R. The 2011 fourth-rounder is facing a six-month recovery timetable, leaving him questionable for an important round of OTAs next spring.

Receivers Mike Williams (leg) and Sidney Rice (shoulder surgeries, concussions) are not taking part in Seahawks voluntary workouts.
Rice's absence was expected, but there was an outside chance Williams would participate. Recovering from a broken left ankle and fibula, Williams will have to be 100 percent healthy to even be in the mix for a roster spot in training camp.
