Mason Crosby surpassed 80 percent in field-goal efficiency for the first time in his career last season.
Crosby was one of the NFL's most valuable kickers, converting 85.7 percent of his field goals while finishing third in the league with 49 touchbacks and fourth with 140 points. As a proven cold-weather kicker signed through 2015, Crosby's job security is as strong as it's ever been.

Mason Crosby (left foot) made a 31-yard field goal and averaged 71.7 yards per kickoff in Saturday's preseason opener.
Crosby's plant foot was a little sore, but it didn't bother him while kicking. He's safe to draft as a top-3 fantasy kicking option.

Packers K Mason Crosby has been sidelined since Friday due to a sprained ankle.
The Packers haven't revealed if the damage is to Crosby's kicking or plant leg. Either way, Crosby isn't walking with a noticeable limp. We can rule out a high ankle sprain even though the Packers may be forced to sign a kicker off the street for Saturday's preseason opener.

Packers agreed to terms with K Mason Crosby on a five-year deal.
Crosby has been the Packers' kicker ever since they drafted him in the sixth round of the 2007 draft. Although he hasn't topped 80 percent in any of his four seasons, he has made at least two field goals from 50-plus yards out each year. Our 2011 draft guide has Crosby as the No. 3 kicker available thanks in large part to Green Bay's explosive offense.

Packers team physician, Dr. Pat McKenzie, is "hopeful" that RB Alex Green (ACL surgery) will be ready for training camp.
Already running four days a week, Green has graduated to "a little bit" of cutting. He's stayed ahead of schedule in his rehab all offseason. "My speed is picking up daily," Green said. "I'm definitely excited with where I'm at."

Packers FB John Kuhn has been diagnosed with an "MCL injury," and will not require surgery.
It's the best possible news for the would-be Pro Bowler, and means he should be back to 100 percent well before training camp. Kuhn signed a three-year, $7.5 million contract in July before leading the Packers in rushing TDs this season.

Greg Jennings (rib contusion) is expected to participate in the Pro Bowl.
"It's better than we thought initially after the game, so that's good news," coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday. It's still possible Jennings will ultimately skip the January 29 exhibition game, but it's clear the injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Giants isn't a long-term concern. Coming off a campaign where he made 67 catches for 949 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games, Jennings will make $3.9 million in the final season of a four-year contract in 2012.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged that TE Andrew Quarless (ACL, MCL surgery) will be "challenged" to be ready for training camp.
Quarless is a candidate to open the season on the PUP list. "Andrew, just from a timetable standpoint, is a question mark," McCarthy admitted. The Packers' top three tight ends to open the year should be Jermichael Finley, Tom Crabtree, and D.J. Williams. Quarless could reenter the mix around midseason.
