5/7/2012: Signed a three-year, $10.805 million contract. The deal included a $3 million signing bonus. Another $2.3 million is available through incentives based on stats, Pro Bowls, and playoff berths. Jackson is eligible for annual $100,000 workout bonuses throughout the contract's life. 2012: $2.205 million (+ $100,000 roster bonus + $100,000 workout bonus), 2013: $2.15 million (+ $300,000 roster bonus due in March + $150,000 in per-game roster bonuses), 2014: $2.45 million (+ $150,000 in per-game roster bonuses), 2015: Free Agent

Fred Jackson's $3 million signing bonus is the only guaranteed payment in his new three-year contract.
Jackson could be cut next offseason and the Bills would only be left on the hook for signing bonus proration. He wouldn't cost them any more cash. Jackson's two-year extension included just $8.7 million in new money as initially reported, and he gets $5.405 million in the first year. Jackson's 2013 and 2014 cap numbers will be just $3.7 million apiece, so the Bills will control his rights with little risk. It's a team-friendly deal, to be sure.

Fred Jackson's two-year extension with the Bills is worth $8.7 million and includes a $3 million signing bonus.
Combined with the $2.105 million left on his old deal, Jackson now essentially has a three-year, $10.8 million contract. He can earn another $2.3 million through incentives in 2013 and 2014. It's a cost effective agreement for the Bills, and doesn't leave them at too much risk if Jackson hits a career wall at age 31 or 32. Jackson turned 31 in February.

Bills signed RB Fred Jackson to a two-year extension through 2014.
Jackson was previously signed through only 2012. The extension likely gives him an up-front bump while allowing Buffalo to retain his rights into Jackson's age-33 campaign. A longtime practice squad player, Jackson's career didn't take off until 2008, and he's only got 817 carries worth of wear on his tires. C.J. Spiller is the future of Buffalo's tailback position, but Jackson will remain heavily involved until he starts showing signs of breakdown. He certainly didn't last year, averaging career bests in yards per carry (5.49) and yards per reception (11.3) before a fractured right fibula ended his season after ten games. Jackson is now healthy.

WGR 550's Joe Buscaglia ''wouldn't be surprised'' if an extension between the Bills and Fred Jackson is close to being done.
Bills GM Buddy Nix said he expects to sign Jackson to an extension before training camp, and with OTAs and mini-camps approaching, it's possible a long-term deal is in place. Entering the declining stage of his career, Jackson isn't likely to top Michael Bush's four-year, $14 million contract. He figures to see little guaranteed money beyond this season.

Stevie Johnson will undergo groin surgery "over the next couple of days" to repair the injury that plagued him throughout 2011.
He has three months before the start of training camp, which should be plenty of time. Johnson's agent characterized the operation as "extremely minor," and assured that his client would "be at [the Bills'] facility for all activities." Johnson played through the injury all last year. He still caught 76 passes for 1,004 yards and seven touchdowns, setting a career high with a 13.2 yards-per-reception average and finishing as the No. 21 fantasy receiver.

He'll be placed on injured reserve. Caussin, a second-year undrafted free agent out of D-IAA James Madison, finished with five catches for 41 yards in six appearances. He won't be on the 53-man roster to open next season.
