Lions waived LB Jordon Dizon.
Dizon completely blew out his knee in the 2010 preseason, damaging all three major ligaments. The 2008 second-round pick won't garner much attention around the league until he can prove his health. It's unclear if that will happen.

According to MLive.com's Tom Kowalski, LB Jordon Dizon is not part of the Lions' plans going forward.
Dizon is under contract, but coming off a torn PCL and ACL, and damaged MCL after blowing out his knee in the 2010 preseason. Kowalski confirms that the odds are "stacked" against Dizon, and we don't see him making the team.

Lions LB Jordan Dizon, who is on injured reserve, revealed that he tore his PCL and damaged his MCL in addition to tearing his ACL in Detroit's preseason opener.
He also strained his calf and hamstring. Dizon is still several weeks out from surgery as doctors wait for the PCL and MCL to heal before attempting to repair the ACL. He'll be on the roster bubble if he makes it to camp in 2011.

The Lions reportedly exposed LB Jordon Dizon to waivers before placing him on injured reserve.
All players with fewer than than four years of experience must be placed on waivers before going on I.R. unless the team forfeits its right to an extra roster spot (as the Bears did with RB Harvey Unga). The Lions needed to free up a spot, so they risked losing Dizon. It's telling that no team put in a claim.

MLive.com considers Ryan Broyles a breakout candidate this season.
Broyles is recovering from a torn right ACL, and the Lions' only notable offseason receiver addition was sixth-round pick Corey Fuller. They must feel comfortable with Broyles' progress. In a six-game stretch last season, Broyles caught 21 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Broyles is questionable for Week 1, but once he's back he'll have a ton of potential in the Lions' high-powered attack while working opposite Megatron.

The Lions' official website considers the No. 2 wideout job Nate Burleson's to lose.
Burleson won't be facing stiff competition. Sixth-rounder Corey Fuller is raw, Ryan Broyles is a slot receiver that's coming off an ACL tear, and Mike Thomas/Brian Robiskie/Kris Durham are all journeymen at best. Burleson averaged 4.5 catches for 40.0 yards per game last season, but will turn 32 in August and is coming off a broken leg. There won't be much upside here.
