The deal contains $17.6 million guaranteed, including a $5.6 million signing bonus, Branch's first-year base salary, and his $3.5 million roster bonus in the second year. The Raiders restructured SS Tyvon Branch's contract, clearing a little over $4 million in cap space.
Branch was set to earn a $6 million base in 2012, but the Raiders knocked it down to $715,000 and converted the rest into a "signing" bonus. Oakland tacked on two years to Branch's deal in the process, and he's now signed through 2017. Before the move, the Raiders were about $1.5 million under the cap.

Raiders SS Tyvon Branch left Thursday night's game versus the Broncos with an ankle injury.
Branch is one of the only legitimate players on Oakland's defense, and analyst Mike Mayock opined that he may be the best tackling safety in the NFL. Mike Mitchell is in the game to replace Branch.

Raiders SS Tyvon Branch (neck) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and will be a game-time decision for Week 11.
Branch has started 57 consecutive games, but is in serious danger of missing Sunday's contest against the Saints. If Branch sits, the Raiders will turn to Mike Mitchell to make his first NFL start. Mitchell would have his hands full with Jimmy Graham, who will be an elite fantasy play in this extremely favorable matchup.

Raiders agreed to terms with franchise player SS Tyvon Branch on a four-year, $26.6 million contract.
The deal includes $17.1 million guaranteed. Branch was set to count $6.2 million against the salary cap under his franchise tender, but that number will certainly be much lower now. The Raiders reportedly entered the week less than $1 million under the cap. A 16-game starter each of the past three seasons, Branch has excelled in run support, notching at least 104 tackles every year since 2009. He graded out as Pro Football Focus' 20th best safety in 2011. An ascendant player, Branch is expected to have an expanded role in new coach Dennis Allen's defense.

Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (Lisfranc surgery) says his foot is 100 percent healed.
Ford suffered Lisfranc injuries in each of the past two seasons, but finally appears to be 100 percent. The explosive receiver has a career 17.0 YPR average, and anticipates being used on returns this season in addition to being one of the team's top pass catchers. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, it will be important for Ford to show he can remain healthy.

New Raiders KR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) says he'll be ready "when it’s time to play football."
Cribbs called Jets GM John Idzik's observation that his knee "(wasn't) quite there yet" a "negotiation tactic" before admitting he might not be ready to practice for over a month. Regardless, Cribbs should be ready well in advance of Week 1, and is slotted in as the Raiders' primary return man.
