The Philadelphia Inquirer suspects there may be more smoke than fire to the Eagles' pledge to scale back LeSean McCoy's touches.
As beat writer Jeff McLane notes, Andy Reid would often say similar things about Brian Westbrook in offseasons, then rarely use Correll Buckhalter "when games were played." Observed OC Marty Mornhinweg, "(McCoy) has an opportunity to be one of the great ones." Mornhinweg also pledged to move McCoy "around a little bit more" in 2012, possibly giving him snaps at slot receiver. McCoy's carries may drop, but he could just as easily catch more passes.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus credits coach Andy Reid as the driving force behind LeSean McCoy's new five-year, $45 million extension.
"I think the reason that this deal got done the way that it did was the fact that Andy Reid really wanted to see LeSean stay with the Eagles," Rosenhaus said. "When we were working on this deal, coach Reid was sitting in on the meeting. It wasn't so much he was taking sides, he just wanted to see it get done."

Wilmington News Journal
Eagles signed LeSean McCoy to a five-year, $45 million extension, including $20.765 million guaranteed.
The Eagles continue to succeed at locking up young talent, this time thanks in large part to the Asante Samuel trade. McCoy fell just shy of Arian Foster, who landed $22.5 million in his five-year deal. With one year left on his rookie contract, McCoy is now locked up through the 2017 season as the feature back in Andy Reid's offense. Yet to turn 24 years old, McCoy is vying with Calvin Johnson and Aaron Rodgers as the most valuable Dynasty league assets. A worthy successor to Brian Westbrook, McCoy has averaged 1,648 scrimmage yards and 14.5 touchdowns per in two seasons as a starter. Ray Rice, Matt Forte, and Maurice Jones-Drew remain frustrated bystanders.

Coach Andy Reid reiterated confidence Monday that the Eagles will get LeSean McCoy signed long term soon.
"Well we’ve had him up here the whole time, so he’s been here working out," said Reid of McCoy. "He and I have talked. I can’t share that with everybody, but I will tell you it is heading in the right direction. That’s all I can tell you." Contract talks have been amicable to this point, though they could grow more contentious if no deal is in place around the start of training camp.

Sidelined
Brent Celek (shoulder and hernia surgeries) "(didn't) look that limited" at Eagles OTAs on Tuesday.
The Eagles have been mum on Celek's status other than revealing he will see "limited reps" in June's minicamp, but it sounds like earlier concerns about his recovery were overblown. Celek recently proclaimed that he "felt better than I have probably in the last three of four years," and should be at or near 100 percent for camp. He believes he was injured for perhaps two years before going under the knife.
