The Jaguars are unlikely to cut ties with Mike Thomas this year because his 2012 base salary and $1 million of his 2013 salary is guaranteed.
Thomas was a massive disappointment in 2011 and apparently hasn't looked good in OTAs, but his roster spot is safe. On top of the salary guarantees, Thomas received $1.5 million of a $3.5 million roster bonus in March. The other $2M will be paid next spring. Thomas will still have to fight off Cecil Shorts to be the Jags' slot receiver between Justin Blackmon and Laurent Robinson.

The more he watches the team practice, Jaguars beat writer Mark Long is "less convinced" that WR Mike Thomas will be on the roster after training camp.
Much like Arrelious Benn in Tampa, Thomas is no longer on scholarship with a new sheriff in town. After entering the 2011 season as the default No. 1 receiver, Thomas may be as low as fifth or sixth on the depth chart right now from the tenor of Long's tweet. With a $3.5 million roster bonus coming due, the Jaguars may struggle to find a trade partner for Thomas this summer.

According to ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky, word out of Jacksonville was that WR Mike Thomas "gave up" in frustration late last season.
It was more than just the struggles of rookie QB Blaine Gabbert. Thomas didn't get along with WRs coach Johnny Cox, who was subsequently fired by Mel Tucker and replaced with Jerry Sullivan. Thomas' effort came into question after signing a five-year, $19 million contract in October. Between Gabbert's growing pains and the addition of potential No. 1 receiver Laurent Robinson, Thomas will struggle to return to WR3 value in 2012. His Dynasty value is fading.

Jaguars WR Mike Thomas is due a $3.5 million roster bonus this offseason.
Thomas' $1.45M salary is guaranteed, so getting out of his contract wouldn't be as simple as it may seem. Thomas, 25 in June, experienced a production dip across the board in 2011 after a career-best season. Perhaps most worrisome, he averaged under 10 yards a catch. The Jags will almost certainly retain Thomas, but must get better quarterback play for him to realize his potential.

Jaguars WR Taylor Price required surgery and had a pin inserted into the stress fracture in his left foot.
He's on crutches at OTAs. Price's injury is going to put him well behind Cecil Shorts, Chastin West, and even Brian Robiskie when training camp kicks off.
