Jets RB/KR Joe McKnight acknowledged that he gained 15 pounds during the offseason by eating "a lot of McDonalds."
At least he's honest. "I was eating healthy, but the majority of time I was eating bad," said McKnight. "I wasn't eating all the right stuff." McKnight is averaging less than four yards a carry for his career, and managed a pathetic 3.12 mark last season while fumbling three times on just 43 rushing attempts.

Jets RB/KR Joe McKnight has added 15 pounds of muscle this offseason.
The extra bulk was an offseason goal for McKnight, ostensibly to challenge Shonn Greene for backfield snaps after the Jets failed to add an impact tailback in free agency or the draft. It should be noted, however, that backs don't always improve with added weight. Felix Jones, a recent example, noticeably lost explosiveness.

Updating a previous item, Joe McKnight missed the start of the Jets' offseason program due to flight delays.
He'll be at the team facility on Tuesday. It's a relief because McKnight has never been known for his offseason work ethic. He does plan to participate in the Jets' spring conditioning program entering a big third NFL season.

Joe McKnight was not present for the first day of Jets voluntary activities on Monday.
LaRon Landry was the only other Jets player not in attendance. Unlike the unsigned franchise tag recipients who passed on OTAs today, McKnight is under contract for the next two seasons. There has been no indication given as to why McKnight wasn't in attendance, but the 2010 fourth-round pick should be plenty motivated to get back to work considering he's the favorite for the No. 2 tailback job behind Shonn Greene.
