The Cleveland Plain Dealer confirms a trade of Texans RB Ben Tate to the Browns is "not gonna happen."
Rumors of Tate being dealt to Cleveland were never based in fact, and there's an almost zero percent chance he doesn't open 2012 as Arian Foster's backup. Arguably the top handcuff in the NFL, Tate should remain a low-end RB2/flex option in fantasy leagues this season.

The Texans are not considering trading Ben Tate to the Browns, according to beat writer John McClain.
This rumor started gaining steam when the Browns refused to comment on it. The truth is that the Texans could never get equal value for Tate, even though he'll continue to back up Arian Foster. The 2010 second-round pick averaged 5.4 yards-per-carry last season, racking up 942 yards on just 175 carries.

According to beat writer Jeff Schudel, the Browns have refused to comment on a "rumor" that they've discussed a Ben Tate trade with the Texans.
We'd like to see this pass the rumor stage before taking it seriously, but the Browns refusal to comment is interesting. Tate would fill a major need for a play-making power back in Cleveland, and he's blocked by Arian Foster in Houston. After finishing among the NFL leaders in yards per carry and yards after contact per attempt, Tate should fetch at least a second-day draft pick.

Ben Tate did not receive a carry in the Texans' Divisional round loss to Baltimore.
He was targeted once but didn't catch it. The Texans likely viewed Arian Foster's slashing style as a better bet to pick up consistent yardage against the Ravens' heavyweight front seven, so we wouldn't read into Tate's lack of usage. After a breakout second NFL season, Tate will enter his age-24 campaign as perhaps fantasy football's most valuable "handcuff" running back.

Coach Gary Kubiak insists Matt Schaub (Lisfranc surgery) could be partaking in OTAs if the Texans allowed him.
The Texans are exercising the utmost caution with Schaub, and getting promising second-year QB T.J. Yates extra reps. "Matt is fine," Kubiak said. "Matt, to be honest with you, could probably do individuals, could do 7-on-7, but we’re just being smart. When you haven’t passed a physical, you’re not going to step on the field." Schaub is expected to be fully cleared for training camp.

Andre Johnson (knee scope) has "no doubt" that he'll be ready for training camp.
"I feel like maybe in three, four more weeks, I’ll be probably ready to go," Johnson said. "It’s just a process. I’m not having any issues from the other injuries I had with my hamstrings and stuff like that." Johnson has missed 12 combined games over the past two seasons. He should still be one of the first 3-5 wide receivers drafted in fantasy football leagues this year.
