Joe Webb confirmed that he is focusing exclusively on playing quarterback this offseason.
Webb was a Wildcat/receiver/quarterback in his first two seasons, but the Vikings want him to be Christian Ponder's clipboard holder and to push Ponder in camp. "Any time you can concentrate on one position, that's always a positive," Webb said. Look for Webb to open the season as Ponder's primary backup.

Coach Leslie Frazier indicated that Joe Webb will be used exclusively at quarterback going forward.
Webb will move away from "special packages," wide receiver, and special teams to concentrate on quarterback after impressing in spot duty last season. He will enter the season second on the depth chart, with the possibility of pushing Christian Ponder in the event of a prolonged slump.

Coming on in relief of an injured Christian Ponder, Joe Webb completed 17-of-32 passes for 200 yards and two interceptions against Bears in Week 17
Of Webb's three relief appearances in the past month, this was easily his least effective as both a passer and a runner. All told, the dual threat showed enough to enter the 2012 as a "slash" threat as well as fallback option in case Christian Ponder slumps as a sophomore. Webb should be owned in all but the shallowest Dynasty leagues entering the offseason.

After Saturday's win over the Redskins, coach Leslie Frazier suggested that Joe Webb is making a strong case to be the Vikings' quarterback of the future.
It sounds like Webb, at the very least, is going to start in Week 17. "Some of the things he does, man, and what it does to the rest of our team -- you can't ignore it," said Frazier. "It's something we're going to take a real hard look at as we go forward. He definitely lifts our team. He's done it. He did it a season ago as well." Webb went 4-of-5 for 84 yards and two touchdowns after coming off the bench to replace Christian Ponder (concussion) against Washington, also scrambling for 34 yards and a touchdown. The Vikings face the Bears in the season finale.

Adrian Peterson (ACL, MCL, meniscus surgery) believes he's "50-50" to be participate in training camp.
"I feel like I will be able to get out there and you call a run play or whatever, I'll be able to go through practice. That's how I feel. That's my mindset," said Peterson. "But I'm going to follow the protocol. Whatever the Vikings and their staff want me to do, then I'm gonna do that; but I'm not going to hinder myself. I'm going to let those guys know how I feel."

Percy Harvin's minor shoulder surgery has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, April 24.
The procedure will end up being delayed two weeks due to a family emergency, but Harvin is still expected to be ready for OTAs that begin May 29. The estimated recovery period after Harvin gets bone spurs cleaned out is three weeks.

According to the National Football Post, one NFL team thinks Vikings WR Jerome Simpson would be making $5 million a year if not for his fall arrest.
He ended up accepting a one-year, $2 million prove-it deal. $5 million is optimistic for Simpson, but he's reportedly not perceived as a "bad kid" despite being arrested for having 2.5 pounds of marijuana mailed to his house in September. Some teams do think highly of Simpson's ability, so a strong 2012 season could earn him a big pay raise next offseason.
