Ryan Williams revealed that he is already running and making cuts on his surgically repaired right knee.
Williams underwent surgery to repair a torn patella tendon in addition to meniscus damage on August 22, so he's just under nine months removed. "I am running and cutting and doing things I didn’t think I’d be doing this early," he said. "I’m not worried about it." The Cards didn't draft a back or even sign an undrafted free agent ball carrier. They're clearly counting on Williams for 2012.

Cardinals RB Ryan Williams (knee) participated in voluntary activities on Monday.
On March 24, Williams reported on Twitter that he was 75-percent recovered from patellar tendon surgery. Although it's unclear how far along he is today, it's a good sign that last year's 38th overall pick was able to take part. If he can get back to full strength in time for the regular season, Williams will be in line for a complementary role behind Beanie Wells.

Last year's 38th overall pick, Williams is questionable for training camp after missing the entire 2011 season with a ruptured patellar tendon. Assuming he doesn't have any setbacks, he should compete for passing-down work and serve as a complement to starter Beanie Wells.

Beanie Wells acknowledged Tuesday that his January 24 right knee surgery was "a little more complicated" than simply repairing his damaged meniscus.
Beanie's agent confirmed to ESPN.com's Mike Sando that the running back did not undergo microfracture surgery "or any other procedure requiring an extended recovery period." Wells isn't practicing this week, though coach Ken Whisenhunt insists the team is playing it safe. Sitting out offseason drills has been the plan all along. "It's coming along pretty good," Wells said. "No setbacks at all, I'm feeling confident about being ready when the time is right." The Cardinals plan is for Beanie to be ready by the start of training camp.

Updating a previous item, Cardinals TE Jeff King's right leg injury is a partially torn quadriceps tendon suffered in offseason workouts.
The injury did require surgery, though coach Ken Whisenhunt expects King to be ready for training camp. Whether or not he's back to 100 percent by August remains to be seen.
