Steelers coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that RCB Ike Taylor's hairline leg fracture will not require offseason surgery.
Taylor's injury will heal with rest, and he should be available for the full offseason program. Though he turns 33 in May, Taylor is still playing at a high enough level that the Steelers won't think twice about retaining him at his $6 million scheduled base salary. He'll return as Pittsburgh's top corner.

Steelers placed CB Ike Taylor (leg), TE Heath Miller (knee) and RB Baron Batch (arm) on injured reserve, ending their seasons.
There was some hope that Taylor's hairline fracture would be healed enough for him to play in Week 17, but that wouldn't make much sense now that the Steelers are eliminated from playoff contention. Taylor ended up missing the season's final month, but still put together perhaps the finest campaign of his 10-year career. He'll be well worth his $6 million 2013 salary as one of the game's better shadow corners.

Steelers CB Ike Taylor (leg) will not play in Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Taylor is out of his walking boot and making progress, but his hairline fracture has not fully healed yet. It leaves the Steelers' secondary extremely shorthanded once again, this time for a must-win game at Cincinnati with playoff berths on the line. The last time these two teams met, Taylor played a major role in holding A.J. Green to a 1/8/1 line. Look for a gimpy Keenan Lewis (hip) to lead a committee defense on Green this time around.

Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed RCB Ike Taylor (leg) will be out at least two games and possibly longer.
Taylor, who has excelled as a shadow corner for much of this season, has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his lower right leg. Previous timetables had his timetable in the 2-6 week range. The Steelers will be forced to roll with nickelback Cortez Allen opposite Keenan Lewis. They're also scheduled to work out free agent Stanford Routt this week. Taylor's absence snaps a 185-game consecutive starts streak.

Heath Miller (torn ACL) remains without a timetable for a return, but believes "there’s a chance" he'll be ready for Week 1.
"I’m running now. I’m doing everything," Miller said. "I’m not at full speed, but I’ve been able to do everything that they’ve asked me to do. So, I’m pleased and encouraged. It’s been a long process. ... But I’m going to keep taking it one day at a time and get better every day." The Steelers didn't draft a tight end, so they're clearly counting on Miller contributing in 2013. He's too risky to count on as a low-end TE1 for fantasy purposes, however.
