Blackmon has two DUI arrests and a four-game substance-abuse violation on his resume since 2010. But none of that occurred while Bradley was in contact with the 2012 No. 5 overall pick. The pair is having regular conversations as Blackmon tries to stabilize his life and career. "He's never done anything wrong with me. It'd be different if I was talking to him and I didn't feel like we were connecting at all. I do feel a connection," Bradley said.

Speaking to reporters Monday, suspended WR Justin Blackmon denied that he has a problem with substance abuse.
Overcoming denial is supposed to be step one in substance-abuse recovery, and it appears Blackmon hasn't even cleared that hurdle. He's been popped for DUI twice since 2010 and will open the 2013 season on a four-game suspension for substance-abuse violations unrelated to either arrest. Blackmon clearly has a problem. Hopefully the Jaguars can help him rectify it.

The new Jaguars' regime has reportedly found suspended WR Justin Blackmon to be "too easily distracted" and prone to focus errors on the field.
This isn't about Blackmon's four-game substance-abuse suspension. The Jags are concerned about Blackmon's lack of on-field "consistency," which they believe "affects his performance." The new regime does "like Blackmon's talent," but may be wary he'll never realize it until he gets his head on straight.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley threw support behind Justin Blackmon following his four-game suspension for a substance-abuse violation.
Bradley said he's had "six or seven" conversations with Blackmon since the Jags were notified of his ban. "I told Justin I do trust him," said the rookie coach. "We both have to earn each other’s trust and I don’t want trust to be mistaken for being naïve. ... We’ve had great conversations." Bradley insists he has "confidence in Justin" and "we’re looking forward to the challenge."

Aaron's younger brother, Rodgers is competing with fellow undrafted QB Matt Scott for No. 3 duties. This gives the more-talented Scott another leg up in a competition the Jaguars would likely prefer him to win.

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) said his goal is to resume full-scale workouts in the month ahead of training camp.
Jones-Drew didn't practice with the Jags during Monday's OTAs. Instead, he ran 30-yard dashes at three-quarters speed. "Lately, it's been one day on, a day off, two days on, a day off — it's part of the process," he said. "I'm closer than I think. I just want to take my time and make sure we do it the right way." Rehab from Lisfranc surgery is nothing to be brushed off lightly. We'll be watching MJD's progress closely as he enters a contract year.

During his first official practice with the Jaguars, Brackett sustained a serious knee injury. The pass-catching tight end will need to regain full speed and burst before he can hope for a 2013 roster spot. The Jags re-signed Colin Cloherty to take Brackett's roster spot.
