ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on
NFL 32
that fourth-round pick Tyler Wilson made a "very big impression" on Raiders brass during his first week of offseason practices.
Mort suggested Raiders officials believe Wilson "looks a little better than (they) thought" he would. It's a positive early step because Wilson is likely to shine in live, contact situations as well due to his toughness in the pocket. Right now, Wilson is just throwing the ball against air and DBs who can't hit. In terms of being a value pick, Wilson was our favorite quarterback in the 2013 draft.

The Contra Costa Times believes it's "not a stretch" to think fourth-round pick Tyler Wilson could surpass Matt Flynn and Terrelle Pryor on the Raiders' quarterback depth chart this season.
Wilson reportedly looked like a "seasoned veteran" at rookie minicamp, throwing the football with placement and velocity. He'll look even better in preseason games because Wilson stands tall and firm in the pocket and isn't gun-shy under pressure. "Throwing the ball, he’s done a nice job," said coach Dennis Allen. "I don’t have any question about his arm strength and his accuracy."

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie cited Tyler Wilson's pocket toughness as a primary strength and reason Oakland targeted Wilson in the fourth round.
Wilson had to be one of the nation's toughest quarterbacks behind Arkansas' porous line, and that's a trait that translates well to playing under center in the NFL. (i.e. Blaine Gabbert didn't have it; Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin did.) "We like the way he can move around in the pocket," McKenzie said. "We like his toughness to hang in there and see the field. We think he has a lot of qualities that go into being a good solid quarterback in the NFL."

Raiders selected Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson with the No. 112 overall pick.
Wilson (6-foot-2 1/8, 215) succeeded Ryan Mallett and started for two seasons, looking like the potential No. 1 overall pick in 2011 before regressing in 2012 as Arkansas' program fell apart. He finished with a career completion rate of 62.6 and a 52:26 TD-to-INT ratio. Wilson's accuracy can be scattershot and his arm strength isn't overwhelming, but he is the toughest pocket passer in this draft and loves to challenge defenses vertically. He's a gunslinger with good mobility. Current Raiders starter Matt Flynn could lose his spot to a rookie named Wilson for the second year in a row.

Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (Lisfranc surgery) says his foot is 100 percent healed.
Ford suffered Lisfranc injuries in each of the past two seasons, but finally appears to be 100 percent. The explosive receiver has a career 17.0 YPR average, and anticipates being used on returns this season in addition to being one of the team's top pass catchers. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, it will be important for Ford to show he can remain healthy.

New Raiders KR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) says he'll be ready "when it’s time to play football."
Cribbs called Jets GM John Idzik's observation that his knee "(wasn't) quite there yet" a "negotiation tactic" before admitting he might not be ready to practice for over a month. Regardless, Cribbs should be ready well in advance of Week 1, and is slotted in as the Raiders' primary return man.
