| C | 1 | Mike Ribeiro SidelinedMike Ribeiro and a number of other Dallas players sat out the season finale against the Blues with an assortment of injuries. With nothing on the line Ribeiro, Steve Ott, Sheldon Souray, Stephane Robidas, Radek Dvorak and Mark Fistric were scratched due mostly to nagging ailments. We will find out the extent of those injuries in the coming days. Apr 8 |
Jamie Benn ActiveJamie Benn has eight goals and 12 points in 14 games this month. Benn has been great all season, scoring 26 goals and 62 points in 66 games. Those are career-highs for Benn, but we wouldn't be surprised if he sets new ones in 2012-13. Mar 31
Vernon Fiddler ActiveVernon Fiddler had a goal, but it wasn't enough in the Dallas Stars' 2-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. Fiddler's goal was only his eighth of the season, but it came at 7:44 of the third period with the Stars down by two, so it gave them a legitimate chance to at least record a point with another one. Unfortunately, Dallas only mustered eight shots in the final frame. Eric Nystrom and Kari Lehtonen had the assists on the goal. Mar 22
Jacob Dowell SidelinedJacob Dowell (undisclosed) is expected to be scratched Saturday. Dowell might not be significantly hurt, but the Stars have opted to rest a number of veterans for their season finale. He has seven points and 53 penalty minutes in 52 games this season. Apr 7
Ryan Garbutt ActiveRyan Garbutt scored his second career goal in Dallas' 3-2 loss to St. Louis Saturday night. It was the 26-year-old center's thrid point in 19 games with the Stars. Phillip Larsen also scored for Dallas in the loss, while Jamie Benn, Loui Eriksson, Tomas Vincour and Alex Goligoski registered assists. Apr 7
| LW | 1 | Brenden Morrow ActiveBrenden Morrow is aware of the speculation about whether or not he should be traded and he's hoping that he stays in Dallas. "I'm not going to lie, it's really tough to hear," said Morrow, referring to the speculation. "But at the same time, I saw it with franchise players, good friends. If it happened to Mike Modano, it can happen to anyone. I don't like it; I'm uncomfortable with it. I want us to win, I want us to be better, but I also understand this is a business and some of the things are out of my control. So what I can control is to get myself as healthy as I can and work as hard as I can and hope I perform as well as I can. I'd love to be a part of the solution next year, and hopefully management agrees." Morrow is signed through 2012-13 and comes with a $4.1 million cap hit. He had 26 points and 97 penalty minutes in 57 games this season. Apr 11 |
Steve Ott SidelinedSteve Ott (undisclosed) will be scratched for Dallas' season finale. If the Stars still had a shot of making the playoffs, Ott might have played. As it is, Dallas will focus on giving youngsters playing time in their final contest and will rest several veterans as a result. It looks like Ott will finish the season with 39 points and 156 penalty minutes in 74 games. Apr 7
Eric Nystrom ActiveEric Nystrom (leg) returned to the Stars' lineup on Tuesday. Nystrom was sidelined for three straight games because of a lacerated leg. He had a minus-one rating in 13:32 minutes of ice time. Apr 4
Tom Wandell ActiveTom Wandell (illness) returned to action on Thursday April 5. Wandell played 8:08 minutes including 1:15 on the power play. He last played on March 24. He has six goals and 15 points in 71 games this season. Apr 6
Francis Wathier ActiveThe Dallas Stars called up Francis Wathier. Wathier logged 5:25 minutes of playing time in his season debut Monday night. It's possible that Wathier, who is 27 and has now played in nine career NHL games, could stick with the Stars until the All-Star break. "This might be the best opportunity I have in my career, so I really want to show people I belong here," said Wathier. "I know there are several things I can do to help our team win, and that's what I'm focused on." Jan 17
| RW | 1 | Loui Eriksson ActiveLoui Eriksson was great for Sweden at the World Championships. He picked up five goals and eight assists in eight games, while finishing with a plus-7 rating. Eriksson led the Stars in scoring during the regular season with 71 points in 82 contests. He is quickly establishing himself as a dependable offensive threat and should be snatched up relatively quickly on draft day next year. May 23 |
Michael Ryder ActiveMichael Ryder scored two goals and recorded an assist in a 3-1 win Wednesday night. Mike Ribeiro netted a goal and registered two assists for Dallas. Loui Eriksson assisted on two of the Stars three goals. Mar 29
Radek Dvorak SidelinedDon't expect Radek Dvorak (undisclosed) to play Saturday. With the Stars out of the playoff hunt, Dvorak is one of a long list of Dallas players that is projected to be scratched. He has four goals and 21 points in 73 games this season. Apr 7
Adam Burish ActiveThe Stars will get Adam Burish back from an illness for Thursday's match-up in Chicago. Burish will join Ryan Garbutt and Toby Petersen on the team's fourth line. He missed one game as a result of being sick. Feb 23
Toby Petersen SidelinedToby Petersen (undisclosed) is not expected to play on Saturday. Petersen might actually be healthy enough to play, but the Stars are scratching a long list of veterans in their season finale. He has two goals and five points in 39 games this season. Apr 7
Reilly Smith ActiveThe Dallas Stars have signed Reilly Smith to a three-year/entry level contract. Smith was drafted in the third round, 69th overall in the 2009 Entry Draft. He starred at Miami (Ohio) University the last two seasons, scoring 28 and 30 goals in less than 40 games. He will join the Stars but will need a work visa before taking the ice in an NHL game. ``We put a lot of thought into this, and we believe he's ready,'' GM Joe Nieuwendyk said. ``It's a big jump, and it's a challenge, but other players have done it recently, and we believe Reilly is the type of player who can do it, too.'' Keep an eye on him as he knows how to score. Mar 26
| D | 1 | Alex Goligoski ActiveAlex Goligoski scored his eighth goal of the season in a 3-2 loss to the Predators Sunday. The goal late in the third period cut Nashville's lead to 3-2 and ends a three-game pointless streak for Goligoski. Michael Ryder also tallied for Dallas in the loss. Feb 19 |
Stephane Robidas SidelinedStephane Robidas (undisclosed) isn't projected to play in Dallas' season finale. Robidas is one of several veterans who might actually be healthy enough to play, but won't because the Stars want to use their final game to give their younger players ice time. He has five goals and 22 points in 75 games this season. Apr 7
Sheldon Souray SidelinedSheldon Souray (undisclosed) isn't projected to play in Dallas' season finale. Souray is on a long list of veterans who might be healthy enough to play under other circumstances, but won't because the Stars want to see what their youngsters can do. Dallas has already been eliminated from the playoffs. Apr 7
Trevor Daley ActiveTrevor Daley had a three-point night (a goal and two assists) in the Dallas Stars' 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night. With 14 points on the year, the defenseman has set himself up for a career year, but he's still only on pace for 32 points so he's not someone to be eyeing in fantasy leagues. In addition to Daly's excellent day, Tom Wandell had a goal and an assist to give him six points, while Jamie Benn notched two assists for 34 points on the year. Loui Eriksson (13th) and Michael Ryder (15th) each notched goals on the man advantage. Dallas had three of its goals in a 12-shot first period to take advantage of an uncharacteristically shaky Tim Thomas. Dec 31
Adam Pardy ActiveThe Dallas Stars have called up defenseman Adam Pardy. He won't get back into the lineup on Thursday, but he enjoyed a solid conditioning stint in the minors with four assists and a plus-1 rating in two contests. Feb 9
Mark Fistric SidelinedMark Fistric (undisclosed) is not expected to play on Saturday. Fistric returned to the Stars' lineup on March 31 after missing nearly two weeks with an abdominal strain. He might have been able to play Saturday, but the Stars decided to scratch a number of veterans to give their younger players a chance to show what they could do in the season finale. Apr 7
Philip Larsen ActivePhilip Larsen (illness) was healthy enough to play Tuesday. Larsen missed Monday's practice because of the disease. He had an assist on Tuesday, giving him 10 points in 53 games this season. Apr 4
| G | 1 | Kari Lehtonen ActiveDallas GM Joe Nieuwendyk has revealed that Kari Lehtonen's undisclosed injury is to the meniscus in his right knee. He sustained the ailment while competing for Finland at the World Championships and according to Nieuwendyk it would have sidelined him for about two weeks if it took place during the regular season. Lehotonen will probably have his knee examined back in Dallas in a week or so. May 17 |
Richard Bachman ActiveRichard Bachman played well in a 3-2 loss to St. Louis Saturday night. He stopped 32 of 35 Blues' shots but unfortunately recorded his 5th loss against eight wins. We expect Bachman to play in a few more games next season as Kari Lehtonen's back up from the start of the campaign. Apr 7
