| Pos | Role | Name |
| C | 1 | Jeff Carter ActiveJeff Carter scored his first career playoff hat trick as the Los Angeles Kings dominated the Phoenix Coyotes 4-0 to take a 2-0 series lead. Carter came into Tuesday with just a single goal, so this might be a springboard for bigger things. Dwight King also hit four tallies on the postseason, collecting the 1-0 winner. Anze Kopitar recorded two assists and Dustin Brown drew a ton of penalty minutes (along with registering a helper) in a laugher for Los Angeles. Justin Williams and Mike Richards also had an assist. May 16 |
| 2 | Anze Kopitar ActiveAnze Kopitar is now on a six game scoring streak. Kopitar has 10 points during the streak, including four goals. He is now third in the NHL scoring race with 14 points and has been a major reason the Kings are only one win away from the Stanley Cup final. May 18 |
| 3 | Mike Richards ActiveMike Richards snapped a five-game goalless drought with his fourth goal of the playoffs in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over Phoenix. The Los Angeles center has registered 11 points in 14 postseason contests, which has complemented top pivot Anze Kopitar, who has 15 points, very well. The Kings will look for more of the same from their top two centers in the Stanley Cup Finals. May 23 |
| 4 | Jarret Stoll ActiveThe Los Angeles Kings biggest strength outside of the goalie crease is at center. The Kings top three pivots are Anze Kopitar, Mike Richards and Jarret Stoll and this strength down the middle is a major reason why the team is one win away from a trip to the Stanley Cup final."When we are on our game, we feel that is the strength of our team, but we have to bring it every night and control the puck, starting with the faceoff on out and go from there," Stoll said. "Centers control the lines, you are the leader of your line and your pack there and you try to make it work and be consistent." May 20 |
| 5 | Colin Fraser ActiveColin Fraser (personal) has returned to the Los Angeles Kings. Fraser didn't play in Games 2 or 3 of the Western Conference Finals. However, he served as the team's fourth line center in Saturday's practice. May 19 |
| 6 | Andrei Loktionov ActiveAndrei Loktionov will make his NHL playoffs debut on Friday. Loktionov is projected to play on the Kings' fourth line. He had three goals and seven points in 39 contests this season. Apr 13 |
| 7 | Jordan Nolan ActiveJordan Nolan scored his first goal of the playoffs on Sunday. Nolan also fought St. Louis' Chris Stewart. Not bad for a guy who only had 6:19 minutes of playing time over 11 shifts. Nolan will continue to provide the Kings with a physical presence, but he probably won't get too many more points in Los Angeles' playoff run. May 7 |
| LW | 1 | Simon Gagne I.L.Even though Simon Gagne (concussion) has been given the OK to participate in contact drills, the chances of him returning in the playoffs is very small. Gage hasn't played since Dec. 26 and it typically could several weeks for a player to get back into "game shape," especially one that's been out for the long of a time period. Kings coach Darryl Sutter had this response when he was asked about the winger returning in the postseason: "That's news to me," Sutter said. "I mean, he hasn't played a game in five, six months." May 15 |
| 2 | Dustin Penner ActiveCoach Darryl Sutter decided to stick with Dustin Penner during Tuesday's 4-3 victory over Phoenix and the move paid off in the end when the big winger scored the game-winning goal in overtime to send the Kings to the Stanley Cup Finals. "He had a journey tonight. I stuck with him," Sutter said. "He struggled early in the game. Stuck with him." Penner, who is playing with Mike Richards and Jeff Carter on Los Angeles' second line, had a goal and an assist in the contest to give him 10 points in 14 playoff games. He said the marker was the "biggest" of his career so far. Penner has enjoyed a much better showing in the postseason than he had in regular season, where he generated seven goals and 10 helpers over 65 games. May 23 |
| 3 | Scott Parse SidelinedScott Parse (hip) said there's currently no timetable for his return. "No, not right now," Parse said. "But the hip feels good, so I’m happy about that. … There’s no schedule." He joined the Kings for their practice on Friday. Kings coach Darryl Sutter said Parse looked "slow" and "behind" in the practice, so it doesn't sound like he's close to returning. Apr 21 |
| 4 | Brad Richardson ActiveBrad Richardson netted his first goal of the postseason on Sunday. Richardson's goal proved to be vital in the Kings' 2-1 overtime victory over Vancouver. Los Angeles has now advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Richardson missed the first three games of the postseason due to an emergency appendectomy. Apr 23 |
| 5 | Dwight King ActiveDwight King is on a three-game goal scoring streak. King has five goals in his last five games, which is enough to match his regular season goal scoring total. In the Western Conference Finals alone, King has four goals to the Phoenix Coyotes' three. The Kings' star players have been pulling their weight, but part of the reason they've been so dominant is that some their depth and young players have exceeded expectations. May 19 |
| 6 | Kevin Westgarth SidelinedKevin Westgarth (hand) isn't expected to return on Friday. Westgarth took part in the morning drills and then got in some extra skating. He hasn't played in roughly two months, but he should be considered day-to-day at this point. Apr 13 |
| RW | 1 | Dustin Brown ActiveDustin Brown does not have a hearing scheduled with the NHL for his hit on Phoenix defenseman Michal Rozsival during overtime on Tuesday night. The Los Angeles captain didn't think the play warranted any discipline after the game because it was more of a full body collision than a knee-on-knee hit and apparently the league agrees. "Rozsival was cutting to the middle and I cut across and made contact," Brown explained. "Obviously, they thought it was a kneeing. It happened at high speed. I felt like I got him with my shoulder and my left side and his right side all made contact from toe to shoulder." The Coyotes had some choice words for Brown and the officiating following the contest, but they'll have to wait until next season to seek retribution. Brown leads all active playoff participants with 16 points in 14 games. He is also tied for first with a plus-13 rating and has been credited with 67 hits. May 23 |
| 2 | Justin Williams ActiveAfter a 59-point regular season, Justin Williams has made a big impact in these playoffs. Williams has two goals and eight points in the 10 playoff games thus far, with his goals and four of his points coming in the last four games. "I probably go a little more under the radar because we have so many high-profile guys on our team," Williams said. "I'm more than comfortable with that. It's helpful being under the radar, if you can produce." The 30-year-old has 13 goals and 37 points in 61 career playoff games. May 15 |
| 3 | Trevor Lewis ActiveTrevor Lewis has been a valuable member of the Los Angeles Kings third line, alongside Jarret Stoll and Dwight King. Lewis got a huge boost when Darryl Sutter took over in December from Terry Murray and has not looked back since. "He was always a terribly fast, hard-working guy and he's invaluable at this level," Kevin Westgarth said. "You can see he works the hardest out there, and he's got a lot of confidence going now. That's huge. He's willing to carry the puck through the neutral zone and do a lot of stop-up plays. But his work ethic and his speed is what obviously has really gotten him to this level and made him flourish." While Lewis does not have a lot of fantasy value, his value to the Kings is immense. May 20 |
| 4 | Tyler Toffoli ActiveTyler Toffoli will join the Los Angeles Kings to observe the remainder of their playoff run. Toffoli had 52 goals and 100 points in 65 OHL contests with the Ottawa 67's. We've seen some players with little to no NHL experience step into the 2012 playoffs and hold their own, so we can't completely rule out the possibility of Toffoli getting some ice time. Apr 28 |
| D | 1 | Drew Doughty ActiveDrew Doughty enjoyed a strong fantasy night in Tuesday's series-clinching win over Phoenix. He recorded a goal, an assist, four shots, four penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in 30:12 of ice time during the Kings' 4-3 overtime triumph to propel them into the Stanley Cup Finals. Doughty was whistled for an interference call in the extra session, that him livid at the referee, but the Kings killed off the infraction and scored later in the frame to win the series in five games. He has 10 points and a plus-10 rating in 14 playoff contests. May 23 |
| 2 | Robert Scuderi ActiveRobert Scuderi received some "good wishes" from former Pittsburgh teammates in his quest to claim the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings. "There were a couple of messages from Brooks (Orpik) and Sidney (Crosby)," said Scuderi. "Just them saying, 'Good luck.' It's always nice to get a show of support from your friends." He won the Cup as a member of the Penguins in 2009 and joined the Kings as a free agent the following summer. Scuderi has played alongside Drew Doughty during Los Angeles' run to the Stanley Cup Finals this spring, while posting a plus-8 rating, 21 blocked shots and chipping in one assist in 14 games. May 24 |
| 3 | Willie Mitchell ActiveThe Los Angeles Kings have not allowed a power play goal in their last 29 penalty kills. The Coyotes only had one power play chance on Thursday as Willie Mitchell led the Kings in shorthanded time on ice, playing 1:21 of the two minute minor. The Kings have allowed only three goals in 48 attempts in the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs and have actually potted four shorthanded goals to make the penalty kill a better experience for the Kings than the opposition. May 18 |
| 4 | Matt Greene ActiveMatt Greene's goal Saturday was his first in post-season play. It was a shorthanded effort as he became only the second Kings defenseman to score on a penalty kill in the playoffs as Rob Blake also did it in the 1993 playoffs. "I just kind of got lucky on the play, following it up," Greene said. "I took a chance on it. It definitely was not drawn up." Lucky or not, it was the game winner giving the Kings a 1-0 series lead against the Blues. Apr 29 |
| 5 | Alec Martinez ActiveAlec Martinez got his first assist of 2011-12 on Tuesday. Martinez now has three points in 29 games this season. He isn't expected to have any fantasy value in standard leagues for the remainder of 2011-12. Feb 22 |
| 6 | Davis Drewiske ActiveDavis Drewiske's goal in Detroit on Thursday was his first of the season and halted a 130:35 minute Kings scoring drought. Interim coach John Stevens, who by all accounts will be replaced by Darryl Sutter on Tuesday, has used the defensive minded Drewiske in both games since he took over behind the Kings bench as the defenseman was a healthy scratch in 24 of the Kings first 25 games. Drewiske rewarded him with the goal but do not expect much offensively from the former member of the University of Wisconsin player. Dec 17 |
| 7 | Slava Voynov ActiveTrading Jack Johnson has allowed Slava Voynov to flourish on the blue line. Kings GM Dean Lombardi knew Voynov could be a key cog on the defense corps. He also felt Voynov could be very effective if paired with Willie Mitchell, which is something Lombardi credits for the Kings’ drive to the postseason. May 15 |
| G | 1 | Jonathan Quick ActiveJonathan Quick ultimately prevailed against Mike Smith as the Los Angeles Kings won the Western Conference finals 4-1 thanks to a 4-3 OT win against the Phoenix Coyotes. Quick stopped 38 out of 41 shots as the Kings edged the Coyotes in a wild contest. He also continued a remarkable run in which he's allowed three goals or less in every playoff game. For fans of simpler numbers, that's proof that he gives Los Angeles a chance to win every night. May 23 |
| 2 | Jonathan Bernier ActiveJonathan Bernier allowed three goals on 23 shots as the Los Angeles Kings were edged 4-3 in a shootout by the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. In such a tightly-packed Western Conference playoff race, the Kings could use all the points they can get and could ill-afford a hiccup on a night when they were giving Jonathan Quick the night off. Bernier gave up two in the first on nine shots, then one in the third on seven shots. Los Angeles has a two-point lead in the Pacific Division, with one more game played than its closest competitors.
