| Pos | Role | Name |
| C | 1 | Jason Spezza ActiveJason Spezza suffered a knee injury in March while recovering from his back problem. Spezza consequently played through a torn meniscus when he returned in the second round. He'll need to have his knee scoped, but he should be fine in about three weeks. May 27 |
| 2 | Kyle Turris ActiveKyle Turris scored and assisted for the Senators as their season came to an end with a 6-2 loss in Game 5 of their second-round series with the Penguins on Friday night. Turris had a team-leading six postseason goals. The Senators were overwhelmed and overmatched against the Penguins in this series, but they were never quitters. Even though they were outscored 22-11, coach Paul MacLean's group never gave up and that was a trait of this team the entire season. Milan Michalek potted the other marker, with Jared Cowen, Colin Greening and Jason Spezza picking up helpers. Chris Neil and Turris each had four penalty minutes. May 24 |
| 3 | Mika Zibanejad ActiveMika Zibanejad helped spark Ottawa's comeback win in Game 4 with his first NHL playoff goal at the 11:55 mark of the third period. Zibanejad redirected the puck into the net off his skate and the play held up as a goal after a lengthy review. He didn't have a point in his previous two postseason matches after getting two assists in Game 1. May 8 |
| 4 | Zack Smith ActiveZack Smith opened the scoring in Game 5 Thursday night. His first career postseason goal came just over two minutes into the opening period on a juicy rebound in front of Montreal starter Peter Budaj. Smith was credited with nine hits and 15 penalty minutes (all of which came in one game) in Ottawa's first-round series. May 10 |
| 5 | Peter Regin ActivePeter Regin is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, as he probably won't be retained by the Ottawa Senators. "It's disappointing," he said referring to his 2013 performance. "I love it here. (If I'm not back), it wouldn't be because I don't like the team or the city." Regin played in only 10 games in 2011-12, and 55 the year before. He was limited to 27 contests during the lockout-shortened campaign and he collected just three assists. May 28 |
| 6 | Jean-Gabriel Pageau ActiveJean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Senators in their 4-3 loss in Game 2 of their second-round series with the Penguins on Friday night. The coming out party continues for the 5-foot-9 winger who now has four goals and two helpers in seven playoff games. Kyle Turris notched a power-play goal and Colin Greening had the other marker. Chris Neil had four penalty minuets, a game-high six hits and a helper. Ottawa needs to figure out a way to hold on to pucks longer and sustain pressure or this will be a very short series for them. The upside is that this is a team that has brushed aside adversity the entire season. May 17 |
| 7 | Mike Hoffman SidelinedMike Hoffman re-injured his collarbone last week and will be out indefinitely. Hoffman broke his collarbone earlier in the year while playing in the minors. He missed two months with the injury, but it's not clear yet whether Hoffman simply aggravated the injury or fractured the bone again. Either way, it sounds like it'll be a long time before Hoffman is back on the ice. Apr 12 |
| LW | 1 | Milan Michalek ActiveMilan Michalek plans to see a specialist in Germany, who he and his agent found online, to get his ailing knee back up to par. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on it back in March after it required a major ACL procedure 10 years ago. "Some guys went to see him and had good results," said Michalek. "Hopefully he can help me. They have to figure it out, do some MRIs and X-rays. Hopefully I can let it settle, and hopefully get it close to 100 percent as possible." He stated that he was never fully healthy this year after he had just four goals and 14 points in 23 matches. May 28 |
| 2 | Cory Conacher ActiveCory Conacher is playing for the Senators on Friday night. With Mark Stone hurt, Conacher gets another chance in the lineup with Ottawa's season on the line. Conacher didn't play in Game 4, and he has three goals in seven playoff games this season, though he has notched just one shot on goal over his last three contests. May 24 |
| 3 | Guillaume Latendresse ActiveGuillaume Latendresse wasn't sure if he was in Ottawa's plans and now he knows that he will be permitted to test the market as an unrestricted free agent. "It seems official now. Thanks to the fans, management, owner of the Sens. An A1 class organization," he tweeted on Wednesday in a bit of a farewell announcement. He missed 21 games this past season, while sitting due to injury and as a healthy scratch. Latendresse had six goals and 10 points in the 27 contests he did play. May 29 |
| 4 | Colin Greening ActiveColin Greening is using his big frame and speed to success against Pittsburgh in the second round of the playoffs. He has scored a goal in each of his past three games versus the Penguins going into Wednesday night's match-up. "If my skating is on, everything else falls into place," Greening said. "I want to pride myself on being a player that can play in the playoffs." Greening, Erik Condra and Jean-Gabriel Pageau has arguably been Ottawa's best line in the series so far. May 22 |
| 5 | Jim O'Brien ActiveJim O'Brien scored the only Ottawa goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins Thursday night. The power play marker was the fifth of the campaign for O'Brien, a figure that amazingly leads all Ottawa forwards and stands only one tally behind the injured Erik Karlsson for the team lead. Kaspars Daugavins and Zack Smith drew assists on the goal. Feb 28 |
| 6 | Matt Kassian ActiveMatt Kassian is a healthy scratch for the Senators in Game 2 of their second-round series with the Penguins. The 26-year-old played in Game 1, getting 9:42 of ice time and a shot on goal. Guillaume Latendresse, who has played in two playoff games this year, gets the chance in Kassian's place. May 17 |
| RW | 1 | Daniel Alfredsson ActiveDaniel Alfredsson considers winning the 2013 Mark Messier Leadership Award a "tremendous honor." "It’s a great award because it recognizes all the work you do on and off the ice, and especially coming from a guy like Mark Messier, who exemplifies hard work and leadership in our game," Alfredsson said. The question now is whether or not he'll return for the 2013-14 campaign and he doesn't have an answer yet. If he decides he wants to extend his career, he should have no problem getting a new contract out of the Ottawa Senators. Jun 17 |
| 2 | Jakob Silfverberg ActiveJakob Silfverberg doesn't like setting statistical goals for himself, but he hopes to improve next season. He was asked if he could score 20 goals next year and he said, "I don't like to set up goals like that. What I usually say is I want to be a better hockey player than I was last year. What that means, I can't say that for sure. If I score 20 goals that would make me very happy. But I want to help the team win hockey games. If that's scoring 20 goals or blocking 100 shots, I can't tell that right now, we'll have to see." He displayed some solid two-way play in 2013 during his rookie season, while scoring 10 goals and nine assists in 48 games. May 28 |
| 3 | Chris Neil ActiveChris Neil (undisclosed) practiced Tuesday and is cleared to play in Wednesday's Game 4. Neil left Sunday's Game 3 during the second overtime session, but the Sens said Tuesday that Neil could've returned if the game had gone longer. We expect he'll be in the lineup again Wednesday night as the Senators try to even the series. May 21 |
| 4 | Erik Condra ActiveErik Condra generated a goal and two assists in Game 5's 6-1 win over Montreal. He assisted on Cory Conacher's first goal of the night and helped set up Kyle Turris' shorthanded marker in the second period. Condra scored his first goal of the playoffs on the power play late in the third period. May 10 |
| 5 | Mark Stone SidelinedMark Stone's undisclosed injury might be a high-ankle sprain. If that's true, then it would have a negative impact Stone's offseason training. He had 15 goals and 38 points in 54 AHL games this season. May 25 |
| D | 1 | Erik Karlsson ActiveThe Ottawa Senators believe they can succeed with Sergei Gonchar on their roster. The pending free agent simply wasn't in Otawa's plans for the future so they salvaged what they could from the asset. The healthy return of Erik Karlsson, along with the presence of Marc Methot, Eric Gryba, Patrick Wiercioch, Chris Phillips, Jared Cowen and Mark Borowiecki leaves the Senators in a decent position even without the 39-year-old blueliner. Jun 9 |
| 2 | Patrick Wiercioch SidelinedThe Ottawa Senators announced on Sunday that Patrick Wiercioch remains sidelined with a lower-body injury. He played in one May 5 playoff game before leaving that game early on with this vaguely reported injury. He's been in and out of Ottawa's lineup at various points of the season, so he's obviously not a make-or-break guy at this point in his career. May 12 |
| 3 | Chris Phillips ActiveThe Ottawa Senators are psychologically prepared to face the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the NHL's playoffs, veteran defenseman Chris Phillips says. The Penguins earned the right to meet the Sens by eliminating the New York Islanders Saturday night with a 4-3 overtime victory. "It would be a tough series (against Pittsburtgh)," Phillips said, "but yeah, we welcome the challenge. We've played them a few times (over) the last years, and I would expect no different ... a lot of energy and an exciting series." May 12 |
| 4 | Jared Cowen ActiveJared Cowen collected an assist in Ottawa's Game 1 loss to Pittsburgh Tuesday night. He didn't have a strong showing defensively though, as he inadvertently deflected a shot from Paul Martin into his own net 2:41 into the game while trying to kill a penalty. Cowen also turned the puck over deep in his own zone and then lost Evgeni Malkin in front of the net for the Penguins' second goal of the contest. Pittsburgh opened Round 2 with a 4-1 win over the Senators. May 15 |
| 5 | Marc Methot ActiveThe Senators realize shutting down the Penguins' top offensive players is easier said than done. The key is to play smart and controlled. "People need to know when you’re playing against great players, it’s not always easy to be physical," Marc Methot said. "They’re good for a reason. They don’t put themselves in vulnerable positions where they’ll get hit. It’s going to be tough. The biggest thing is to stay tight in our own end and not get running around in our own end where they thrive." May 14 |
| 6 | Andre Benoit ActiveAndre Benoit hopes to sign a one-way deal with Ottawa this off-season. "Obviously that's what everyone wants," he said. "You want to be in the NHL. That's where I want to play. I think I've proven to myself I can play in this league. Now it remains to be seen if I've proved it to other people." Benoit can look for a deal to his liking elsewhere, as an unrestricted free agent, if he doesn't get one from Ottawa. May 28 |
| 7 | Eric Gryba SidelinedEric Gryba (upper body) won't play in Game 4, but he did return to practice with his teammates on Wednesday. Wednesday's session marked his first appearance back on the ice since he violently collided with Pittsburgh defenseman Brooks Orpik in Game 1 on May 14. May 22 |
| G | 1 | Craig Anderson ActiveCraig Anderson gave up six goals on 33 shots in Ottawa's 6-2 Game 5 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday night. Anderson, just like his teammates, found the Penguins' high-flying attack too difficult to contain, giving up 20 goals -- 12 over the last two games -- in the series. A far from ideal playoffs should not take away from the brilliant season he had, though 21-year-old Robin Lehner is lurking and more than capable of handling the full-time load. Starting with coach Paul MacLean, there's a lot to like about the Senators moving forward and the goaltending situation is certainly one of them. May 24 |
| 2 | Robin Lehner ActiveRobin Lehner was excellent Sunday as he stopped 34 of 36 shots en route to a 4-2 win over the Bruins. Lehner will certainly find himself on the bench once the playoffs begin, but his talent is obvious and the Senators have an embarrassment of riches between the pipes. With the victory Ottawa jumps to seventh place in the Eastern Conference and the Sens will take on Montreal in the opening round of the playoffs. Apr 28 |
