Wild coach Bruce Boudreau felt Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to Columbus was "embarrassing."
Minnesota had 3-1 and 4-2 leads in this contest, but the Blue Jackets managed to claw their way back into the contest. To be fair to Minnesota, the squad has endured far more than its fair share of injuries. Forwards Zach Parise, Mikael Granlund, Marcus Foligno, Nino Niederreiter, and Charlie Coyle are all currently sidelined, so they're in a challenging situation, but Boudreau certainly wasn't in the mood to use that excuse. "It wasn't what Columbus was doing, because I've seen Columbus play 10 times better than that," Boudreau said after the loss. "But the simple plays we're supposed to be making, managing the puck, turning pucks over. You can make excuses all day long. These guys are professionals, and they shouldn't be doing that." The Wild have roughly a week off now, so maybe that will do them some good. We also might see alternate lines for Friday's game against Winnipeg. Oct 15 - 5:37 AM
