Queens Park Rangers finally managed to ditch their proverbial monkey on Tuesday at the twelfth attempt winning their first away game of the season at the Stadium of Light but the victory came at a cost with the loss of Leroy Fer to a nasty looking knee injury.
Fer has been a solid performer throughout the season and it was his opener on 17 minutes which set Rangers on their way in only Chris Ramsey’s second game in charge. The Dutchman has scored 4 times this season and on each occasion the Hoops have picked up points [W3 and D1] and his overall contribution cannot be underestimated so the sight of the midfielder being stretchered off after twisting his knee will be the cause of some concern – in addition Matty Phillips is to be assessed after limping off early in the second half. The game against Sunderland will also be remembered for Joey Barton’s seventh consecutive yellow card – a Premier League record! Feb 11 - 7:18 AM
