Germany put on perhaps the most dominant performance by any one country in any one match thus far in Euro 2016, carving up Slovakia 3-0, punching their ticket to the quarterfinal.
A very positive display by the Germans that has to leave spectators thinking they may be the favorites to win this tournament. In the 8th minute, Toni Kroos sent a cross in that was headed away but into the path of Jerome Boateng and the center back fired it low and hard to score the opener. Near halftime, Julian Draxler crossed one to Mario Gomez who was camped out in the six yard box and he finished from short range. The Germans seemed to preserve their energy in the second half, concentrating more on possession, but, just after the hour mark, they put the game to bed when Draxler was left unmarked on a corner kick and fired home on the volley. The only negative came from Mesut Ozil, who was unable to convert a penalty chance, but he was doing fine otherwise in open play. Jun 26 - 1:57 PM
