Stoke City remain mired in the relegation zone after coming away empty at home in a 1-2 loss to Tottenham.
It was a tough start for Mame Biram Diouf in this one. The first big chance for either side fell in his lap in the 12th minute, when he was teed up from six yards out by a nice low cross from Erik Pieters, but Diouf launched it into the stands. He would get some redemption in the second half. Minutes after Tottenham grabbed the opening goal, the industrious Xherdan Shaqiri was at it again, sending a perfect through ball to the foot of the sprinting Diouf. Hugo Lloris came out to clear but the result was a collision and Diouf may have been concussed but he managed to keep his wits and tuck home the loose ball. Spurs canceled the strike out minutes later though and the day was summed up late when a Shaqiri free kick caromed off the corner of the woodwork. All clubs between 13th and 17th position in the table came away with at least a point on Saturday, making this result for Stoke really hurt. Apr 7 - 8:15 PM
