Swansea City put in a performance they would like to soon forget as they lost 3-0 to Newcastle United.
There was a single moment in today's match that summed up the day for the Swans. Gylfi Sigurdsson lined up for a free kick in a position that is always prime for some of his set piece magic, and he slipped while following through, sending the ball sailing into the stands. There just wasn't sense of urgency from the Jacks today, with only occasional glimpses of promise shown by the recently reinstated Jefferson Montero. They left very little work for the Newcastle defense to do, a unit that has typically been very poor. Meanwhile, the Swansea defense were beaten to many a ball and they allowed the Magpies too many opportunities to create chances. While they may be safe from relegation, this has been a very disappointing season from a usually consistently competitive side. They will need to shake things up drastically over the summer.
