The opening act was all AFC Bournemouth but the Cherries could not add to an early goal and Manchester United would break their hearts with a late winner in a 1-2 final at Vitality Stadium.
The opening half hour was electric for the Cherries, as they put tons of pressure on United, with Ryan Fraser and Junior Stanislas, the latter making his first league start of the season, giving the Red Devils plenty to worry about on the flanks. It would be Callum Wilson who would provide the lead though, as Stanislas recovered his own corner before feeding Wilson for his 50th goal as a Cherry. Failure to add to their lead would cost them though, as United began to crawl back in to the game while the Cherries looked to have run out of gas in the second half. They did have one big chance in 50th minute, but David Brooks had his ball saved from just a couple yards out. Despite the tough loss, Stanislas looked sharp and was heavily involved on set pieces, as he is poised to become a regular once again. Sat, Nov 3, 2018 10:32:00 AM
