Jordan Ayew returned from a three match ban in the nick of time, as he scored an equalizer in the final 20 minutes of the game to allow Swansea City to draw 1-1 at home to Everton.
When you are hovering precariously above the relegation zone, you will take a result any way you can get it and that is how the Swans should feel after today's contest. Neither side were particularly playing at a high level, but around the 20 minute mark, Swansea had a flurry of activity around the Everton goal. First, Jordan Ayew had a great look from close in after a swift counter-attack, but his shot was deflected wide. The resulting corner caused a shot to get cleared off the line and a follow up whizz over the bar. A moment of bad luck came just before halftime, when Lukasz Fabianski attempted to clear the ball away and struck his teammate Kyle Naughton instead, the ball bouncing back into the net. Fortunes turned in the second half though, and Ayew was able to add to his team-leading goal tally by sticking a half-volley home from a Tom Carroll cross. A tougher test ahead next weekend when the Swans take on a Manchester City side that has the title all but wrapped up. Apr 14 - 12:17 PM
