Doctors at The Massachusetts General Hospital confirm Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius was concussed during the Champions League final after taking a blow to the head.
The 24-year-old has been lambasted for his two fatal errors which led to Real Madrid lifting the European trophy on a night to forget. Karius was involved in a collision with defender Sergio Ramos early in the second half, and minutes later, it was his throw out which was deflected into an empty net by Karim Benzema. He was later culpable when allowing Gareth Bale’s shot from distance to slip through his hands. There was no on pitch assessment carried out at the time and following his return from holiday, Karius was immediately sent back to Boston to visit head specialist - Dr. Ross Zafonte: "After carefully reviewing game film and integrating a detailed history -- including his reported present and immediate post-contact subjective symptoms -- physical examination and objective metrics, we have concluded that Mr. Karius sustained a concussion during the match," a hospital statement read.
