In a match without the availability of a pure striker, Manchester City were able to find their scoring shoes in the second half, as a David Silva brace would grab the headlines in their tidy 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Going into the locker room at the half 0-0, the storyline looked to be how ineffective City were without a true striker as the versatile James Milner filled the role in a false nine. They plenty of possession and eight shots, but none were on target at the break. The dominance of possession would eventually undo the Palace defense though, as Silva opened the scoring early into the 2nd half, scoring off a deflection after being fed by Pablo Zabaleta. It was Silva again, this time firing home from a Aleksandar Kolarov cross. Yaya Toure would wrap up the 2nd half onslaught with a signature powerful surge that gave him his fourth goal in his last six league matches. Its off to West Brom on Boxing Day for the Sky Blues, who are at least temporarily level on points at the top of the table now with Chelsea. Dec 20 - 9:49 AM
