Leicester City have announced the appointment of former Southampton boss Claude Puel as their new manager on a three-year deal.
Puel becomes Leicester's third manager in eight months, following the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri in February and Craig Shakespeare last week. Southampton sacked Puel in June despite leading the club to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League as well as the League Cup final last season. The 56-year-old Frenchman arrives at the King Power Stadium with a managerial record much different than his predecessor Shakespeare, having won Ligue 1 in 2001 with Monaco before successful spells with Lille (2002-2008) and Lyon (2008-2011). "It’s a great privilege to become the new manager of Leicester City – a club whose values and ambitions are closely aligned to my own," said Puel, who put pen to paper on a contract until June 2020. "The opportunity to help the Club build on its remarkable recent achievements is a truly exciting one and I’m looking forward to working with the owners, players, staff and supporters to deliver further lasting success."
