Serge Aurier scored his first goal for Tottenham and a Heung-min Son goal late on sealed the points as Tottenham defeated Brighton and Hove Albion, 2-0.
As has been customary on short turnarounds, Mauricio Pochettino rotated his fullbacks, giving starts to Aurier and Trippier, as well as giving Dele Alli a rest with Harry Winks coming in. Erik Lamela made his first start in over a year and had an effort fizz over the bar on the half hour mark. Ten minutes later, Aurier put Spurs ahead in interesting fashion. After collecting a pass from Winks, he sent in a cross from near the touchline and the ball looped its way over the Brighton keeper and crept into goal. Tottenham had the clear edge over Brighton in the final third from then on, with Heung-min Son the most involved in their chances. Another hard-working shift from the South Korean finally payed off with a few minutes to go, as he flicked the ball coming in from a Christian Eriksen free kick. With three points and draws from Liverpool and Arsenal, Spurs find themselves back in the top four on goal difference. Wed, Dec 13, 2017 05:04:00 PM
