It was a sobering late afternoon in London for Tottenham, as they saw chance after chance spoiled by the heroics of David de Gea as Spurs would lose to Manchester United, 0-1.
A thrilling, entertaining match for all that witnessed it, minus Spurs fans. Both sides were playing at a high level in this one, and it looked like it could go in any direction in the first half, with both sides creating chances. Harry Kane looked to poke one home just after the half hour mark but he was offside. The turning point of the match came around 40 minutes, when Moussa Sissoko pulled up with a leg injury and was replaced by Erik Lamela. United would strike for the game's only goal just moments later after Spurs lost possession in what was Sissoko's area of the pitch. The second half was intense. Spurs were creating chances with every possession of the ball, but saw every shot on target stopped by United. Ten were put on target in the second half alone, with the regular cast of characters like Dele Alli and Harry Kane getting denied left and right. What little hope of a title run there may have been looks to be off the table now for Spurs. Jan 13 - 1:49 PM
