Robbie Brady will be out for a "substantial recovery period" after tests confirm the Republic of Ireland international suffered a serious knee injury on Saturday.
There have been growing concerns as to the severity of the problem since Sean Dyche admitted, following the 1-0 defeat at Leicester, that the 25-year-old had been taken to hospital: "It looks more serious than not serious to me," he said. After spending a couple of days in care, medical experts have diagnosed a tear of his patellar tendon, which effectively ends his campaign. Brady is scheduled to go under the knife and a return in 2017/18 appears highly unlikely: "Robbie will have surgery to repair a patellar tendon tear and will be out for a substantial recovery period. He will be given all the time and care he needs on his recovery and supported throughout from all of us at Burnley Football Club." Fraser Forster sustained a similar tear back in March 2015, an injury which kept the Southampton goalkeeper sidelined for 298 days. Wed, Dec 6, 2017 07:45:00 AM
