Manchester United ran out deserved 4-0 winners to secure their spot in the FA Cup 4th round.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was rested for the game and Wayne Rooney stole the headlines in his absence, netting his 249th goal for the club to equal Sir Bobby Charlton's tally in a red shirt. Rooney's goal was United's first. He got his knee up to redirect Juan Mata's deftly lobbed pass over the hapless Al-Habsi between the sticks. In terms of objective performances, Anthony Martial should have earned man of the match. It was his surging run down the left in which he beat two defenders before teeing up Mata which created the goal. He then got United's second after playing a one-two with Rooney that created the space and time for him to carefully side-foot in. Carrick bisected the Reading defence to send Rashford through one-on-one after the break, the youngster made no mistake grabbing United's third before being gifted his brace by an Al-Habsi howler.
