Palace’s wideboys prove the difference again as they underline their Kings of the Road status…
Only three teams have delivered more crosses than Palace this season. Yannick Bolasie, Bakary Sako and substitute Wilfried Zaha provided energy and thrust all afternoon condemning Watford to their first home defeat of the season. Palace needed a win, after two (albeit narrow) defeats on the trot, to maintain confidence and momentum. It was their first clean sheet of the season which will please manager Alan Pardew, but he will be keenly aware of the difference a genuine goal scorer would make to his side. Dwight Gayle just isn’t PL quality, Frazier Campbell likewise. Whether Conor Wickham can score enough goals to fill the role remains to be seen, but expect another concerted effort to get Charlie Austin (or similar) come January. The win is Palace’s ninth of the last 12. That’s Top Four form. Sep 28 - 11:49 AM
