The NCAA granted Boise State running back D.J. Harper was granted a sixth year of eligibility.
Harper and the Broncos may have gotten lucky with this one. The NCAA grants medical hardships to players who participate in less than 30 percent of a team's games the season in which the injury occurs. Therefore, a fifth season of eligibility is in order. In Harper's case, he played the first three games -- but less than 30 percent of the schedule -- in BOTH 2009 and 2010 seasons before he was shelved with ACL injuries. The 2012 season will not only be Harper's sixth on campus, but the sixth in which he will have played for the Broncos. The likely starter with Doug Martin gone, Harper ran for 557 yards and 9 TDs last season. Feb 2 - 2:45 PM
