After transferring from USC in late January, Dillon Baxter was dismissed from the Aztecs as off-field issues continue to plague the running back.
Baxter, who as a transfer would not have been eligible to play until 2013, was already in hot water with coach Rocky Long. The running back was suspended from spring practice because of on-going problems that evidently were not nearing resolution. The once-hyped recruit left USC following a string academic and other issues during his two years at the school.

Dillon Baxter transferred from USC to San Diego State in January. His personal issues also made their way to San Diego and he will not be with the team during spring practice.
Once a mega-hyped recruit out of Southern California, academics were the primary reason that kept Baxter from realizing his potential at USC. Though he is not eligible to play for the Aztecs until 2013 because of the transfer, he was permitted to be with the team this spring, though not as an active player. Alas, Baxter will not be around the team at all as he continues to struggle with academics and other concerns.

Former USC running back Dillon Baxter is enrolled at San Diego State.
Baxter had a tumultuous time at USC, including being suspended in 2010 due to off-field issues. He was dismissed from the program last October so that he could get his academics in order, cutting short a sophomore season in which he had only 9 carries for 29 yards. Baxter ran for 252 yards as a freshman. As a transfer to another FBS program, he will have to sit out 2012 before he can play his final two seasons. Baxter joins receiver Brice Butler as former USC players transferring to San Diego State.

USC sophomore running back Dillon Baxter has left the team to focus on the classroom.
Baxter has been an on-going battle for coach Lane Kiffin and USC. The first hint something was not right this time around was when Baxter did not travel with the team to South Bend for last week’s game against Notre Dame. He did not play the two prior games and had just nine carries on the season, a season in which he has not been able to get to practice all the time. Baxter had problems last year, including being suspended for the opener due to an off-field issue, and discipline problems crept up from to time as the season progressed.
