ESPN's Mel Kiper believes Alabama's A.J. McCarron is the No. 2 ranked QB among the senior class.
Clemson's Tajh Boyd ranks as the top senior prospect at the position. "But give McCarron credit, because he really can stretch defenses with his arm, and the fact that he doesn't make costly mistakes shouldn't just be labeled as a case where he's not allowed to take his shots," Kiper writes. David Fales, Logan Thomas, and Derek Carr round out the top five.

NFL Network's Buck Brooks ranks Alabama QB A.J. McCarron as the No. 8 overall prospect headed into the 2013 season.
"McCarron doesn't get enough credit for the Crimson Tide's back-to-back national titles, but scouts are starting to recognize his pro-ready game," Brooks writes. "McCarron is capable of making every throw in the book and could enter the NFL with 40 college starts under his belt." We still think there is a chance he is only a game manager.

Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay ranks Alabama QB A.J. McCarron as the No. 15 prospect for the 2014 NFL Draft
"McCarron has played his best in the Tide's biggest games, and he's much more than a game manager," McShay writes. "He flashes big-time anticipation and the ability to make NFL throws down the field. He's a better athlete than most seem to think, though we'd like to see more consistency out of him in 2013." There were times where McCarron looked like more than a game manager, but hopefully that turns into a common theme.

After attending Monday night's BCS Championship Game in person, NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah praised Alabama junior QB A.J. McCarron's arm strength, build, and poise in the pocket.
Notre Dame didn't get much pressure on McCarron, but he stood strong in the pocket on the rare occasions the Irish caused duress, and Jeremiah called his composure "tremendous." Jeremiah, an ex-NFL scout, also believes McCarron has arm strength to drive the ball on deep crossers and digs. McCarron isn't expected to enter the 2013 draft, but he'll be high on 2014 quarterback lists.
