Tyler Arndt made his case for being the Bobcats' starting quarterback with a nice spring game.
Arndt and Shaun Rutherford have gone back and forth as the Bobcats’ starting quarterback the past couple seasons. With Rutherford (knee) injured for the spring game, Arndt had an opportunity to shine – and he did. Former TCU and Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione, in his second year with the San Marcos-based school, considers both quarterbacks to be starters. In other words, fall practice will determine who opens the season as the No. 1. Arndt, who will be a junior, was limited most of last season due a knee injury. He has thrown for 1,940 yards and 12/10 in 15 career games with Texas State. After a transitional 2011, Texas State will be a full-fledged FBS member in 2012 and play in the WAC.
