Rams selected Alabama OL Barrett Jones with the No. 113 overall pick.
Jones (6-foot-4, 306) is coming off Lisfranc surgery, but he's expected to be ready by camp. He was only healthy enough to bench before the draft, repping 225 pounds 27 times. Despite a decorated SEC career that ended with Rimington Trophy honors as the nation's top center, Jones is a poor run blocker and lacks quickness. His calling cards are intelligence (35 Wonderlic score) and versatility, as Jones made starts at four positions on Alabama's line. His ideal pro projection is as a versatile backup. There's an outside chance Jones could compete for the Rams' starting left guard job with Rok Watkins. It's a weakness in St. Louis.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt believes psychological testing is the next "big frontier" in the evaluation process.
Teams are reportedly jacking up budgets for these tests. "Scouting used to be a one-story motel out in the country," Brandt said. "Now it's the Sears Tower. And growing." Individual front offices do extensive background checks, including family make up and individual personality tests, but it appears as though teams are ready to take an even bigger step forward.

Alabama C Barrett Jones said he prefers to stay at C in the pros, if he had the choice.
"If you made me choose I'd probably choose center right now because No. 1, I played there last year and No. 2, I'm kind of a control freak," Jones said. "I like to be in control. If we're watching TV together I like to hold the remote. That's the kind of guy I am. I like making the calls. I like the preparation aspect of it. But that being said, wherever they think the best fit for their team and can help them win, that's where I want to play."

NFL.com's Gil Brandt listed Alabama OL Barrett Jones among his potential draft day steals.
"For some reason, Jones... isn't ranked all that highly by scouts," Brandt writes. "He's a lot like Jeff Saturday in that we're not talking about him much now, but when he retires in a decade or so, some team will be trying to figure out how to replace a very smart player. To put it simply, his man does not make plays against him." Jones' best attribute is his intelligence, but we aren't sure if he is quick enough for center or strong enough for guard.
