Bengals selected SMU DE Margus Hunt with the No. 53 overall pick.
Hunt (6-8, 277) blocked an NCAA record 17 kicks at SMU and notched eight sacks with 11.5 tackles for loss as a senior. Hunt's production and tape are not stellar -- and he turns 26 before the season -- but the Estonia native and 2006 Junior Olympics shotput and discus gold medalist is an athletic phenom. At the Combine, Hunt ran 4.6-flat with a running back-like 1.62 ten-yard split and repped 225 pounds 38 times. Concerns on Hunt are his inexperience, upright stiffness, and lack of edge-rushing tools. Hunt will have an opportunity to learn under Mike Zimmer as a reserve on an already loaded Bengals defensive front.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah has heard a lot of buzz about teams targeting SMU DL Margus Hunt at the top of the second-round.
This could mean a team selects Hunt at the end of the first-round. The former track and field athlete is raw and older than his peers, which could be viewed as a poor combination. It was tough to evaluate his flexibility and athleticism during 2012 due to an injured back, but Hunt put forth great workouts and highlight special teams plays.

SMU DL Margus Hunt is visiting the Colts on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This would be an interesting pick at No. 24, although Hunt appears locked into the first-round thanks to his untapped upside. The Estonian is a hard worker on the field and is an impact player on special teams, but there are times he really struggles with leverage and it is difficult to separate a hurt back from his lack of bend in the early parts of 2012.

Bears beat writer Dan Pompei believes SMU DE Margus Hunt is the type of player Packers GM Ted Thompson likes.
Pompei slotted Hunt to the Packers with pick No. 26. If we are expected to believe the buzz from league insiders, Hunt is locked into the first-round. His athletic upside warrants the pick, but his tape as an end in a three man front does not. Teams will like his special teams ability, however.
