Dolphins selected Michigan State TE Dion Sims with the No. 106 overall pick.
Sims (6-foot-4 7/8, 262) caught 36 passes for 475 yards (13.2 YPR) and two TDs as a junior before turning pro. He played at over 280 pounds and focused on an in-line position, where Sims is right there with Travis Kelce as this draft's best blocking tight end. Sims ran 4.75 with a 1.60 ten-yard split and 35-inch vertical at the Combine, so he is athletic and may develop into more of a underneath receiving option in the NFL. Sims could see significant snaps as the blocking tight end, an area where Dustin Keller struggles.

Sims is an intriguing prospect because he lost 40 pounds since the 2011 season and is considered a potential quality inline blocker at the next level. There has been growing interest in Sims, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and many other teams considering him. Sims caught 36 passes for 475 yards last season.

Michigan State TE Dion Sims and RB Le'Veon Bell recently had dinner with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bell and Sims dined on Tuesday night with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. The Steelers could use another running back after losing Rashard Mendenhall to the Arizona Cardinals in free agency. They're also always looking to add tight ends, which potentially makes Sims a target for the team in the mid-rounds.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt says that Michigan State TE Dion Sims has lost around 40 pounds since the end of the 2011 season.
Sims arrived at the Combine weighing 262 pounds, which was a surprise since many suggested he played the 2012 season at 280 plus pounds. We love the Spartan's size, leading to great blocking potential, but he is a bit soft on first contact and was underused as a receiver in college.
