Oklahoma sophomore Tyrus Thompson has earned the Sooners starting LT job, with 2011 RT starter Lane Johnson playing the swing tackle role.
The idea for keeping a 2011 starter in Johnson as a backup at both positions comes down to trust, and since Thompson does not have starting experience, a veteran presence to spell him is not a bad idea. "He's bringing it every day in our meetings. He's practicing well. He's had a great energy about him. He's executing the way we'd like him to," offensive line coach Bruce Kittle said.
