West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen said this is the best defense he's ever coached.
"Without a doubt, it should be the best I’ve had since I started coaching 20 years ago," Holgorsen said Monday at Big 12 media days. "We have guys who have a bunch of experience. When we came into this league three years ago, everyone remembers Geno Smith, Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey, but I doubt you could name another person, especially on defense." Holgorsen's crew boasts Karl Joseph, potentially the top safety prospect in the class, and Nick Kwiatkoski, one of the Big 12’s best linebackers. The Mountaineers finished No. 16 in the Big 12 with 27.6 points allowed per game, but they finished second in passing yards per attempt allowed and figure to be better across the board in 2015.
