Durell Eskridge of Syracuse and James Sample of Louisville are the class' most underrated safeties, believes NFL Media analyst Charles Davis.
"Eskridge is a long, rangy guy, and teams might make him a press corner at the next level," Davis wrote. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound Eskridge (listed at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds by Syracuse) had 68 tackles and an interception last season. In the case of Sample, the analyst believes he was overshadowed at Louisville opposite Gerod Holliman (FBS single-season interception record of 14 in 2014). "Sample's stats aren't as gaudy, but I think he's a consistently excellent player, and I won't be surprised if he gets picked before Holliman," Davis wrote. That precise opinion was controversial a few months ago, but now it merely looks like reality. Mar 20 - 5:37 PM
