UCLA redshirt junior DL Eddie Vanderdoes (knee) said he's been "pretty much 100 percent for two months."
Vanderdoes believes he'll start the opener at Texas A&M on Sept. 3. He suffered a torn ACL in the second quarter of last season's opener against Virginia and missed the rest of the campaign. "I was in shock. I had no clue. They told me I had totally torn my ACL and meniscus," he said. "I honestly wanted to get a second opinion ... I felt like I could have played the rest of the season." At that time, the 6-foot-4, 305-pound was seen as a first-round candidate. "I don’t even think about the NFL right now," he said. "What’s the point? I’ve got to play college football first. I’ve got to show my knee injury isn’t an issue. I need to do the things that are going to get me there, which is help my football team win." Jul 14 - 6:02 PM
